HIGHLAND VILLAGE EASTER EGG HUNT

April 20 | 10am - 2pm | Unity Park | 2200 Briarhill Blvd. • Highland Village, TX

Get ready for this year’s Highland Village Easter Egg Hunt! This is a free event and all ages are welcome. There will be an egg hunt with special prize eggs, pictures with the Easter Bunny (with your own camera), face painting, a bounce house, fire engine, and other activities the kids will love! Kids will be divided up into three different groups based on age for the Egg Hunt.

THE GIVING FENCE

The Giving Fence is where you can donate or receive gently used clothing items and blankets of all sizes. It’s located at 1701 Broadway St., Denton, TX where you can see a large fence filled with items for those in need. When you donate, please drop items off in a clear weather protecting bag and hang them directly on the fence. Visit their Facebook page for more details

NEW ADKINS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Adkins Elementary is feeling the love for their new Assistant Principal, Dedra Adams! Ms. Adams brings with her a wealth of experience and a love for Denton ISD. She’s even a product of Denton ISD, she went to a DISD school elementary through high school. DISD HIGH SCHOOL COURSE OFFERINGS PUT EMPHASIS ON DIVERSITY

High school students registering for 2021-2022 school year classes will find more diverse course options to choose from! Among the new options to choose from are two Ethnic Studies Courses, one in African American Studies, and the other in Mexican American Studies. Both of which will be available for grades 10 through 12 and do not require any pre-requisites. Catalogs will be distributed to students with more course details.

LANTANA SPRING COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE

Lantana’s annual community garage sale is happening on March 27th!! From 8am - 3pm you can take part in this semi-annual ritual. Not only does this event give you an excuse to clean out your closets and make some extra money, but you can also find some really great treasures while having a fun day with your neighbors! Certain COVID-19 protocols will be required.

DENTON COUNTY APPROVED FOR FEMA DISASTER ASSISTANCE

Denton County has been approved for FEMA Disaster Assistance! Included in this are financial assistance for housing and other needs and assistance for small businesses. To receive assistance for damage from snow and ice, you must file a claim with your insurance before applying. To apply go to www.fema.gov/

LIBERTY CHRISTIAN BLOOD DRIVE

The Pre-Med Blood drive has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 24! Blood banks are dangerously low and the winter weather emergency only made it worse. Consider sharing with family and friends that live close by and would like to donate. Busses will be in the front circle where people can check-in outside and will not have to enter the building.
