INDEPENDENCE FEST

Independence Fest 2021 will take place on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Bakersfield Park! This year’s event will be FREE with live music, a kid’s zone, a car show, local vendors, food trucks, and a firework finale. Live music will feature performances by Le Freak and Josh Abbott Band. DENTON ISD WEBSITE NOW IN SPANISH, TOO!

In Denton ISD, 16.2% of students are enrolled in dual language and ELL programs and the need for clear and concise communication is more important than ever. Therefore, Denton ISD created a Spanish version of the district’s website to help navigate the site more easily for native Spanish speakers! 3RD GRADER WINS POETRY SOCIETY CONTEST

Congratulations to Liberty Christian School 3rd grader, Lerato G. for winning first place in the 2021 Poetry Society of Texas Marcella Siegel Contest!! UNITED TRIBUTE GALA

The annual UNITED Tribute Gala took place on May 8 and recognized several organizations and individuals for their dedication to Denton County during 2020. The featured entertainment was a “Dancing with Our Stars” showcase of ten couples who volunteered to learn a group and solo dance. PICKLEBALL COURT ADDITION

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America and has become a growing interest here in Lantana, too! FWSD #6 board member, Ross Ferguson, is proposing building 8 pickleball courts on a portion of 2.5 acres of undeveloped land along FM 407 adjacent to E.P. Rayzor Elementary School. Most people seem to be on board for this addition and love the idea of having more pickleball courts to play on!

FREE SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM

The free meals students have been able to receive throughout the school year are extending through the summer and won’t end until Friday, August 6th! All meals are served in a grab-and-go format where students will pick up breakfast and lunch bundled together. Meals are available for pick up between 11am and 1pm at specific locations. CONGRATS GUYER CLASS OF 2021

Congratulations to the 602 Guyer High School graduates!! It was an extremely tough year with so many twists and turns, but these seniors pushed through every obstacle.
