Slow down, relax, unplug, and experience the beauty and charm of Lake Worth, Texas. Located in Northwest Tarrant County, the city is home to one of the most beautiful lakes in Texas – Lake Worth. The 2010 US Census population for the city was 4,584; Texas Municipal League (TML) estimates the current population as 4,710. The city covers approximately

Lake Worth was built in 1914 as a reservoir and for recreation. The property is owned by the City of Fort Worth, while the Tarrant Regional Water District controls the reservoir’s water rights.

The City was incorporated on February 19, 1949, and first adopted its Home Rule Charter in 1965. The Home Rule Charter was amended in 1968, 2003, 2008 and most recently in 2019.

MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL The City operates under a Council/Manager form of government with a City Council comprised of the Mayor and seven Council members. The term of office is two years with the terms of the Mayor and three Council members expiring in oddnumbered years and the terms of the other four Council members expiring in even-numbered years. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer for the city.

CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS The City Council meets regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings are usually at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 3805 Adam Grubb.

CITY ADMINISTRATION The Administration Department is responsible for overseeing the management of day-to-day operations of the city including building permits, code enforcement, inspections, communications, and municipal court. The Administration Department is comprised of the City Manager, Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance, City Secretary, and Human Resources.

POLICE DEPT In January of 2020, Lake Worth PD created a full-time traffic unit. The focus of the unit is to reduce traffic crashes and instances of impaired driving so that traffic flows safely and efficiently through the city. The unit is staffed by two officers and overseen by a sergeant. Since January, the unit has increased the total number of DWI arrests by 136% while decreasing the number of alcohol and drug-related crashes. In addition to their enforcement duties, the traffic unit also bears much responsibility for public education and traffic safety initiatives.

The unit actively pursues a variety of grants through state and federal assistance programs aimed at increasing training, purchasing additional equipment, and reimbursement of a portion of officer salaries and overtime.

LWPD’s traffic unit is not your stereotypical traffic unit. The unit prides itself on creating positive interactions with those they meet and always looks for ways to provide superior service. Whether its fielding questions or helping install a car seat, the traffic unit and LWPD are dedicated to providing excellent service and protection to our community!

After a brief hospital admission, Mr. Granados was released from the hospital and completely recovered from his out of hospital sudden death.

The EMS system is a system designed to save YOUR life. Without the interventions of each and every component of Lake Worth’s EMS system, it is very likely that this story could have resulted in a very different, potentially tragic outcome!

We are planning a reunion in the near future to reunite Mr. Ganados with his rescuers, and we’ll all be sure to bring tissues!

CITY OF LAKE WORTH WELCOMES NEW PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR The City of Lake Worth would like to introduce our new Director of Public Works – Gilbert Salas. Gilbert comes to the city with 18 years of public service, spending the majority of his career with San Antonio Water System. Mr. Salas has extensive knowledge in all aspects of water and sewer utility maintenance and operations. In addition, he served as President of the Foreman’s Toastmasters Club. Gilbert received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Gilbert maintains a Class B Water Distribution license, a Wastewater III Collections license, and a Customer Service Inspector license from the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ). He has extensive training from the National Incident Management Systems (N.I.M.S) through FEMA. Mr. Salas has five children and has been married to his wife Ann for 15 years. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, lifting weights, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

After this Easter try making homemade decorations, and this article will provide you with detailed instructions on creating homemade Easter decoration crafts from green items.

EASTER BUNNY LID GARLAND You can make an adorable Easter green craft you will need: • Several old lids (You can use lids of all sizes and materials as long as they are round.)

• White, black, and pink paint • Paintbrush • Ribbon • Scissors • Hot glue sticks • Hot glue gun • White foam sheets Start this decoration by painting all of the lids white. While the lids are drying cut ear shapes out of the foam sheet; remember to cut enough ears for all of your lids.

Three years ago this April, I was just finishing up my tour of duty at the Pentagon. Any tour at the Pentagon has long hours, is hard work, and is administrative in nature. But it is (mostly) rewarding. And that's all I have to say about that. Truth be told, I was eager for an opportunity to return to an operational assignment, somewhere.

While at the Pentagon, senior Navy officials kept secret for some time who would be going where for future command assignments. However, among my peers, we all knew that NAS JRB Fort Worth was a coveted command spot, and I was pleasantly surprised when they pulled my name from the hat.

A new assignment meant a new Navy adventure for my family of FIVE, so the Townsend clan began gearing up for yet another move – this time to Texas.

I was to have some big shoes to fill in Fort Worth. Former NAS JRB Commanders read like a who's who around Fort Worth. Many continue to serve the Fort Worth area community today, in great ways. One NAS JRB Commanding Officer was my former fleet squadron CO some time ago, and it was an honor to follow in his footsteps.

I will reflect back with pride in our community and its citizens, both on and off the Base. I will miss a crisp

The first few months as CO moved pretty fast, and on some days it felt as if I was drinking from a fire hose of information. I quickly learned that the Base civilian staff and men and women in uniform were the best in the business. They excel at running the day-to-day operations of the Base, and my role was to give them my horsepower to overcome obstacles when they needed it.

In addition to leading our military and civilian staff, many of my duties are not unlike a City Administrator.

We have roads and buildings, an electrical grid, and water and sewer networks. We have a fire and police department, an emergency response team, and citizen outreach programs.

We have a chapel, a childcare center, a shopping town center, lodging, a boat dock, and a marina. There is family housing, unaccompanied housing, a dining facility, and three colleges, along with 40 tenant commands and an airport. We have to keep the lights on, water running, people heated in the winter and cooled in

RESPECT FOR WAITSTAFF: If anybody is waiting on you, whether it be the barista at Starbucks or the waitress waiting to take your order, do them (and anybody around you waiting for service) a courtesy and pay attention. Should there be a call or text you have to respond to, step out of line or have a buddy hold your place or get your food for you.

In addition to these general rules for good mobile manners, remember to watch your language. If you're at a place where you wouldn't be spouting out curse words, don't do it on your phone – especially if there are children around. If you know a conversation is going to get heated, either save it for later or find a more remote location. As for distance, the general rule is to maintain at least ten feet between yourself and others around you. For all other situations, exercise good judgment - and never text or talk while driving.

UNIVERSAL QUIET ZONES: There are some places where it's never appropriate to take calls and send texts under any circumstances. Some of these universal quiet zones include theaters (unless you want to be pelted with popcorn), churches, funerals, weddings (maybe at the reception, but never during the ceremony), at plays (or anything having to do with the theater), at hospitals (except for the waiting room) and in the library.

early everyone has a cellphone, so it's as good a time as any for a refresher course on appropriate cellphone manners. Not only will having a grasp of mobile manners make a good impression on others, but it could also save you some unwanted hostility from strangers at the bus stop to servers, fellow diners, and dates.

DATES: Ideally, the focus of a date should be on the person you're with at the moment, not on who may be suddenly texting or calling you. If you don't have enough willpower to let calls go to voicemail or ignore texts, put your phone in your pocket or purse and ignore. Placing it on the table is never wise, especially if you have it on vibrate or have a crazy ringtone that's likely to have everyone in the place looking to see who's playing "Super Freak."

CALL VOLUME: Even though cellphones are getting smaller and smaller, the speakers on newer phones are perfectly capable of picking up your voice – so there's no need to yell. Be mindful of who's around you and adjust your vocal tone accordingly. If your call suddenly gets heated, try to find a place with a little more privacy where you can have such a conversation without bothering everyone around you.

FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTIONS: If someone is taking the time to have lunch with you or meet with you for business reasons, suddenly taking a call or texting is just plain rude. Such behavior can be disastrous if you're meeting with a client or going through a job interview. If you know you can't resist the urge, either turn your cellphone off completely or leave it in the car.
