A

rdmore Family Literacy is a 501c-3 Non-Profit that works to improve the literacy of adults, guiding them toward the milestone of high school equivalency certification while also teaching them to advocate for their children’s education.

We do this through a five day a week classroom setting where the subjects of language, social studies, science, and math are taught by our instructors.

“These GED graduates are going on to college and wildly succeeding. Some of the AFL graduates even bowled as a team. They were so happy to see the support from the community. Pro Care jumped at the chance to support them and will likely be the lead sponsor next year,” said Meredith McNair of Pro Care Collision.

I

t’s that time again! Are you ready to slide into another new school year?

Time to purchase back-to-school

supplies, school clothes, and get the endless amount of preschool forms completed.

Time for parents and children to transition back into daily routines, meet new

teachers, new friends, and for many,

a whole new school. For parents, this can either be a blessing or a time of

stress and sadness. But it’s always a time for everyone to get excited about the anticipation of a fresh start. Even for

me, although I am clearly beyond school

age, I still love the excitement that a new school year brings. I also look forward to all the stories my kids will share – at least for the first week or so before they go

back to their usual response “good” to my “how was your day” question. This

year our family will welcome a freshman into college, a sophomore into a new

school, and a 7th-grader returning to her of excitement around our house, to say the least.

I don’t know about you, but each year during this time it’s like a “mini” New

Year’s for me, where I set my resolutions

for a better year. I think things like “This year I am going to read every school

email within 24 hours of it arriving” and “I “Be more organized with the kids’ school activities.” The list goes on. But, just like

we are celebrating Women In Business, and I think it’s a perfect time to remind parents - especially Mom’s – that you are doing a great job. It’s ok not to be perfect because no one is regardless of what you see on Facebook or “Fakebook” as I like to call it. Many of the amazing women featured in our publication would be happy to tell you how they struggle to balance home and work, they sometimes feel guilty and have days where they feel they fail at both work and at home. That being said, I hope everyone keeps this in mind. And the next time you see a parent who forgot their child’s lunch, is late to pick up their kiddo from school, etc. instead of judging them maybe offer them a smile or a word of encouragement because I genuinely believe we are all just trying to do our best. I hope you enjoy this issue and we wish you and your family all the best in the 2018-2019 school year!

INSIDE EDUCATION CORINTH ELEMENTARY 4H AWARD Corinth Elementary 4-H club received an award for Outstanding Service at the State 4-H Roundup on June 13th at Texas A&M University. The award recognizes an individual/group that’s made an outstanding contribution to the Texas 4-H programs. Selection was based on a long-term commitment rather than a one-time program. Currently the school serves as a 4-H Champion School, and role model for other counties across the state of Texas.

All they need to do is download the form from the Guyer high school website and have you sign it. Guyer band would like to thank the family, friends, and community members who pledged to help their 2018-2019 season.

With the communities help, they were able to get over $23,000 in pledges. Many residents may not realize the time and dedication it takes to be part of band. It includes many early mornings, days spent practicing, and traveling time. This will help provide much needed staff, instruments, equipment, meals, uniforms, and repairs for the program.

Corinth Elementary is having a Back to School Skate at Interskate in Lewisville. This fun event is hosted by the PTA and will be on Friday August 24th from 6-8pm, though you’re free to stay as long as you want. There are also arcade games for you parents who can’t skate.

It’s only $6 per person and be sure to wear green for a special surprise. Don’t forget to tell them you are with Corinth Elementary at the front desk and keep a look out for the PTA table.

Dr. Scott’s mission is to help patients and the world at large learn that it is not necessary to use toxic synthetic substances to become well. Most importantly, he wants to empower families, parents, children, and the public at large to trust in the tried and true methods of chiropractic care and living a healthy lifestyle.

“We have patients who can’t get well no matter who they go to. Why is that happening? What’s going on here? How can we help them without simply giving them another pill?” Dr. Scott said. “That’s what we are here to figure out.”

He added, “The technology is awesome, and it doesn’t take a lot of time. The majority of people who come here are at their wit’s end. They are super stressed, and they’re aging faster. My goal is to get them to slow down, control that anxiety and stress, and get their bodies cleaned out so they can function at a higher level.”

When Dr. Scott is not at work, he’s spending as much time as possible with his wife, Diana, who has witnessed first-hand the benefits of her husband’s work with her own chronic pain issues. Years ago, she left the corporate world to focus on the mission of Lake Cities Chiropractic and Wellness. Together, they have two daughters who are the joy of their life.

real person - our blonde hair, blue-eyed, all-American girl.”

When asked what’s next for Bailee, Monica stated that she would probably take a

couple of years off from pageantry until she’s old enough to run for Miss Texas.

She said that Bailee will now focus on school and being the captain of the

Liberty Christian dance team. After school, Bailee hopes to attend Texas Christian University and wants to try out for the TCU Showgirls, which is their school dance team.
