Many DBL members have spent numerous hours to ensure that this publication meets the expectations of everyone represented, and we know that you will enjoy this year’s Tabloid. The mission of Denton Benefit League is to raise funds for philanthropic purposes and to promote volunteerism within our community. In 1973, three incredible women, Maurine Floyd, Kathy Orr and Martha Len Nelson, saw the need to raise funds for nonprofit agencies in Denton. On May 23, 1973 the first general meeting of Denton Benefit League was held with over 100 members
in grants to local nonprofit organizations in the areas of education, social services, the arts and historic preservation. This year $240,990.06 was distributed to 35 area nonprofit agencies. The 2019
efforts, the representatives of the organizations that receive our grants, and the leaders that serve on the DBL Board of Directors. I am proud to be a member of DBL and such a wonderful group of women who work together to give back to the community and make it a better place. Thank you all for making this such a wonderful year.

Each active and associate member is required to contribute a minimum of 25 volunteer hours annually for community programs and services that are nonprofit, nonpolitical, and nonsectarian. In addition to their individual volunteer efforts, members support group projects where DBL partners with local nonprofit organizations on specific volunteer opportunities. Group projects for 2018-2019 include: • Adopt-A-Spot • Denton Arts & Jazz Festival • Denton Christian Preschool Mexican Supper • Salvation Army Angel Tree • Ann’s Haven Hospice Bereavement Luncheon DBL is proud to have received numerous awards over the years in recognition of our volunteer service.
