After he graduated from Drake Law School, Nelson was hired by the 7th Judicial District Court in Davenport, Iowa. It was there he gleaned first-hand experience in the courtroom – seeing the good, the bad and the ugly. He also was able to discuss what he had witnessed in the courtroom with the presiding judge, which allowed him to peer behind the curtain in terms of how judges do things, what they view as effective advocacy, and what they see as credible or not.

Success came fast, but Nelson admits he still had some valuable lessons to learn as the years went on – especially outside the courtroom and office. There were times in the past, Brett said, where he would get up at 3:30 a.m. and stay at work all day – oftentimes not coming home until after 8 p.m. That, he said, put a ton of pressure and strain on his family. So he set out to learn how to juggle a successful practice with a more important family life. Sure, Nelson Law Group is a big part of his life. But work life isn’t what makes this man tick, and he’s intentional about it. It’s obvious when he starts talking adoringly about his family. Nelson and wife, Karmaw, have been married for 18 years and have three beautiful children in Lucy (16), Pierce (14), and Peyton (11). Karma owns her own health and fitness coaching business and, as Brett puts it, she is the most attentive mother and caring wife he could ever hope to have. Add in their dog JoJo, and the Nelsons are your All-American family. None of that happened without plenty of soul searching, old-fashioned hard work, and commitment. Not only did Brett see what it was like to live a life without stability, but so did Karma. Her father passed away when she was 5 years old. Both Brett and Karma had to carry with them that stinging pain of being caught in the middle while trying to move forward. That perspective has helped them grow as a couple and as parents. They juggle their careers with obligations at church, various sports commitments for their two boys, cheerleading for Lucy, and the typical trials and tribulations that go along with any marriage. That’s quite a load, and it’s not hard to see why their calendar fills up so quickly.

Russell Webb

Russell Webb began his career in the oil business in sales and management. He would enter the commercial real estate business a month before September 11th of 2001 with Stream Realty Partners which is owned by fellow Texas Tech graduate Mike McVean, who served with Russell on the Rawls Business Scholarship board. Russell grew up in Abilene, Texas and during high school, he and his brother Glen, helped in their Dadâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s (David Webb Realtors) property management business which included mowing lawns, janitorial work, and painting rental houses. Russel graduated from Texas Tech in 1991 with a BBA in Business Administration and started his own business Silver Oak Commercial Realty in June 2011. Silver Oak Commercial specializes in Seller/ Buyer Representation, Land Site Selections, investments sales, 3rd party leasing, and some property management. Russell has brokered many land deals in and around the Flower Mound/Lewisville submarket for almost 18 years. He helped develop what is now known as Waketon Ranch on Long Prairie Road. He and his fellow partner Jim Leatherwood helped put Quick Trip in their first Flower Mound location at the corner of Waketon and 2499 which took almost five years to accomplish from start to finish. animal welfare since its formation in 2002.

TCAP provides compassionate solutions to pet overpopulation and euthanasia. As a

It’s a typical weekday afternoon, and Cynthia Holsclaw-Francis of Your Candid Memories Photography is struggling to find the right words to describe her business and how much her clients mean to her and teammate Lyndi Augustine. A Thriving Business

Jon and Justine Morales were living the traditional American family life in Flower Mound: Justine a stay at home mom with two kids, and Jon a hard-working dad who often-traveled for work. They even had a minivan parked in the driveway. But then came the fateful day when Jon told Justine he was tired of working in Corporate America and wanted to find a new angle for their lives that would give them more flexibility and happiness. He left the house with Justine’s minivan — their only car at the time — and traded it in for a Black SUV. His idea: start a luxury transportation company for local residents and business professionals who need a reliable option for everything from trips to the airport to entertaining clients or having a fun night out on the town. And Tempus Transportation LLC was born. “We started this business not really knowing what we were doing,” Justine said with a laugh. “I remember Jon took my car and came back with this SUV and said, ‘This is it. This is what we’re going to do.’ Now we have five vehicles and a thriving business. It’s been a great move for us.”

I would rather be the one contractor that did what they said they would do and completed the project as expected and went away with no issues.” On the other hand, he might be remembered for his joyful exuberance. Clark remarked, “On numerous occasions, I’ve ridden a dirt bike while wearing a kilt. Ask to see the pictures sometime.”
