Either way, customers of this one-of-a-kind shop say they love sinking their teeth into blissful works of art. “We love to draw and create images of cakes for customers, that we then are able to build into an edible, delicious custom piece of art,” said owner Jenny Layne. “I want people to feel like they are ordering a cake from their best friend and that it’s going to look exactly like they imagined.” Not only has The Jenny Layne Bakery gained a loyal following, but it is also known as the goto bakery for specialty cakes of any occasion – including birthdays, engagements and wedding celebrations. It also offers cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, pies, and decorated sugar cookies. The Jenny Layne Bakery has been voted Best Cake Bakery three years in a row by Best of Denton County voters.
One look at the bakery’s website, and it’s clear Jenny and her staff have a knack for seeing something – anything – and being able to design it to fruition. Whether it’s a Minion, garden gnome, or a 50th wedding anniversary cake, the attention to detail and delectable ingredients make each treat out of this world.

People clearly identify with this local girl. Jenny started her bakery in 2006 while still in school at Texas Tech. Growing up, she loved baking with her grandmothers, but it wasn’t until she went off to college that she realized how much she loved the art.
“I started this business with every intention of opening a bakery in my hometown,” she said. “What I didn’t expect were the friendships I would develop with my amazing team of co-workers and the loyal following of customers who continue to support us.”
Now, Jenny is living her dream. Not only does she have a bakery she can be proud of, but she has a great group of dedicated and fun-loving coworkers – including a lead decorator, Antonio – who she calls her lifelong friend.
