2021 Young Seniors Interprovincial Championships - Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th November 2021 Event Information

A Warm Welcome Awaits Munster Tennis is delighted to be hosting the 2021 Young Seniors Interprovincial Championships at St. Annes Tennis Club & Tramore in Waterford.

system for Irish National Seniors Team selections adopted officially by Tennis Ireland earlier in the year which will be used for all Team selections for 2022.

It has been a very difficult year but as a Branch we were determined to help run as many of the normal events as we could to keep our sport moving forward and support the players.

Our sincere thanks and gratitude to all at St Annes & Tramore for their generous support in allowing us to facilitate our first Interprovincial Championships since 2019 - and one I am sure we are all eagerly anticipating after a challenging time for us all.

This year, this event is particularly exciting as it is split in line with the “Young Seniors” age groupings. There is the new Over 30’s category and also for the first time we are running the event following the ITF World Championships format - two Singles and one Doubles, per tie.

These changes help make these events a stepping stone to the Teams for the ITF World Championships.

2021 has also been very significant for Seniors Tennis with the National Rankings running for a full year for the first time, the National Close Championships running as two separate events and a comprehensive

We will be hosting this event in line with all current Covid protocols that may be in place, and we thank you all for adhering to the rules, regulations and guidance to ensure we can all enjoy a fabulous two days on and off court.

I look forward to welcoming the players, captains and officials of the visiting Provinces to Waterford and us all sharing in a fantastic Championships together.

Train Waterford Plunkett Railway Station serves the city, located across Rice Bridge on the north side of the city.

The station is a significant interchange and the terminus for InterCity services from Dublin Heuston and InterCity services from Limerick Junction.

Travel to Limerick Junction provides onward connections to Cork, Killarney, Tralee, Limerick, Ennis, Athenry and Galway.

There are 16 stands for buses at Waterford Bus Station. The bus station is used by Bus Éireann for regional services mainly although some city centre services depart form the station.

Most city centre buses depart from the Clock Tower bus stop beside the station.

Whether looking to stay one night, or more, to make the most of your stay in “The Sunny South East”, the hotels will offer a deal if you contact them directly instead of using the many internet booking sites.

St. Annes continues to enjoy an ongoing arrangement with both The Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre and Dooleys Hotel, whilst The Woodlands and Treacys still prove very popular with their lovely mix of facilities and city location at a very friendly price.

Catering & Hospitality

Each participating player & official guest will be issued with hospitality vouchers via their Province’s nominated captain.

All catering offered in St Annes’ Clubhouse (prepared by The Pantry Restaurant, Waterford City) to be enjoyed indoors or outdoors as guests prefer, to include : Morning teas / coffees & pastries on arrival, lunch, afternoon tea & evening supper on Saturday, plus morning teas / coffees & pastries, lunch and afternoon tea on the Sunday.

With respect to COVID precautions, a formal Championship Dinner will not be hosted.

The all inclusive cost per person to cover all matters for both days is €65. Each Province was kindly requested to confirm their total persons requirements, with settled payment, to Munster Tennis by Monday 1st November.
