Welcome to Mundelein Park & Recreation District

Who we are

Established in 1954, Mundelein Park & Recreation District has 35 park sites offering over 735 acres of open space, playgrounds, ballfields, lakes and trails. We offer over 650 seasonal programs, including: dance, youth sports, tennis, karate, golf, adult and youth leagues, swim lessons, art, fitness and wellness, culinary, adult day trips, science classes, and day camps. In addition, we host over 20 annual events, many free to the public.

Barefoot Bay: Just beautiful all around!! ABSOLUTELY loved this water park... It’s amazing for kids. The lazy river is relaxing for adults (depth 3ft) and it has a walk in beach style entrance so it’s easily accessible.

Mundelein Park & Recreation District is a a 2012 – 2023 IAPD/IPRA Distinguished Agency

Only 45 out of 360 Park Districts are an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency.

The Illinois Distinguished Accreditation program provides an opportunity for these agencies to undergo a voluntary, comprehensive evaluation process to demonstrate that they have met state guidelines to provide exceptional park and recreation services to their community. The end result is to improve the quality of life for Illinois residents.

We foster friendships across our community

Students attending Elementary School Districts 75, 76, 79, Mundelein High School, and Carmel Catholic High School all attend programs and events at Mundelein Park & Recreation District. Through these connections, children build lasting friendships that strengthens our community.

For example, children from different school districts form friendships in our basketball program that has over 400 participants, and in our dance program with over 300 dancers.
