Questa realtà risponde a un nome ‘sacro’ per lo scialpinismo: Ski Trab.

L’architettura del leggero Un attrezzo da scialpinismo deve essere leggero. Innegabile. Ma non basta. È fondamentale il modo in cui si arriva a questo risultato, il quadro d’insieme.

maggioranza dei concorrenti, il peso dei race valtellinesi si attesterebbe a 600 grammi. Scendendo però a compromessi in termini di affidabilità e sciabilità.

Compromessi inaccettabili a casa Trabucchi. Ecco spiegato perché 14 strati.

Perché l’aramide?

Il legno: materiale tradizionalmente caro a Ski Trab. Materiale utilizzato, in ben tre varianti, per Race Aero World Cup. Un amore, quello tra legno e famiglia Trabucchi, di lungo corso. Perché, allora, optare per anime in aramide? Proprio perché la ‘factory’ bormina conosce ogni segreto del legno e, pur amandolo, ne ammette i limiti. L’aramide, fibra sintetica di derivazione aeronautica, da un lato garantisce il miglior rapporto tra leggerezza, performance, costanza nelle prestazioni, rigidità torsionale e resistenza, dall’altro è immune dall’effetto memoria e dalla sensibilità all’umidità connaturati alle fibre naturali. Un passo avanti. Un’evoluzione senza rinnegare la tradizione.

Il modello non conta: è Ski Trab Esistono sci top e sci ‘base’, sci di prima e di seconda scelta, sci rifiniti con cura e sci low cost… Esistono, appunto. Ma non da Ski Trab. Ogni prodotto, per il solo fatto di essere ‘made in Bormio’, è come un figlio.

Accudito, amato, coccolato. Inappuntabile. Planarità, chiusura del cap, flessione, rigidità torsionale, preparazione di lamine e solette: ogni aspetto è curato in modo maniacale. If the Race Aero World Cup ski had a structure made up of just 6-7 layers like the majority of the competition, it would weigh just 600 g. This would however compromise the reliability and ease of use; unacceptable at casa Trabucchi. This explains the 14 layers, and the reason why the Race Aero World Cup skis weigh 700 g and are the most popular among competitive athletes. This is why they continue on undamaged where the others break down. This is why Ski Trab pushes beyond simple lightness.

Why Aramid?

Wood: A traditional material important to Ski Trab. A material used in 3 different varieties for the Race Aero World Cup; a long term relationship as it were. Why then opt for an aramid core? For the very reason that the Bormio factory knows every secret of wood. And while they love it they have to admit its limitations.

Aramid, a synthetic fibre originally used in aeronautical design on the one hand offers a better combination of lightness, performance, reliability, torsional rigidity and strength, and on the other is immune to the effect of memory and water damage that effect natural fibres. A step forward without renouncing tradition.

The model doesn’t count: it’s Ski Trab There are top of the line skis, and ‘basic’ skis. First and second choice skis, well finished skis and low cost skis, but not at Ski Trab. Every product, for the mere fact that it is ‘made in Bormio’ is like their child, loved and cared for. Faultless: The evenness of the surface, cap closure, flex, torsional rigidity, edges and base; each aspect of the product is looked after almost obsessively. It doesn’t matter if it is a race or entry level ski, the quality is the same. To choose Ski Trab is to choose a product that, when it comes off the rack doesn’t need any finishing touches; it is ready for any challenge, in accordance with the house philosophy based on combining scientific research with skilled workmanship. Siamo presuntuosi ma preferiamo essere indipendenti Call us presumptuous but we prefer to be independent Adriano e Daniele Trabucchi guidano con passione e professionalità un’azienda che vuole rimanere a dimensione umana e nella quale dietro a ogni sci c’è un operaio ben preciso Adriano e Daniele Trabucchi, figli di Giacomo, il fondatore di Ski Trab.

Classe ‘64 e ‘65, anni del boom economico. In città, un po’ meno in montagna, a Bormio, dove si lavorava sodo per sbarcare il lunario.

Adriano and Daniele Trabucchi run, with passion and professionalism, a company that wants to keep its human dimension, where behind every ski there is a specific worker.

Che ricordi avete di quei primi anni della vostra infanzia?

Daniele: «Ricordi di bambini che vedevano l’azienda come un terreno di gioco. Il papà era sempre lì e noi tra i piedi, ogni tanto a combinare guai.

Poi abbiamo cominciato con i primi lavoretti e, quasi senza accorgercene, ci siamo piano piano ritrovati dentro il meccanismo produttivo».

Adriano and Daniele Trabucchi, sons of Giacomo, the founder of Ski Trab were born respectively in 1964 and 65 - the years of the Italian economic boom, at least in the city; in small Alpine towns like Bormio it was a lot harder to make ends meet.

Adriano, tu hai studiato Economia e Commercio. Sapevi già che avresti lavorato in Ski Trab o avevi altri progetti?

«Ero indeciso. Il titolo della mia tesi di laurea era ‘Strategie competitive nel mercato dello sci’, ma quando mi sono laureato ho voluto provare a rimanere a Milano. Avevo un piccolo appartamento in viale Padova, mi sono trovato un impiego da un commercialista: mi hanno messo a compilare libri contabili e ho capito che non era il mio mestiere».

Quindi hai trasferito i tuoi studi e le tue conoscenze in azienda...

«Mah, la nostra è un’azienda che nasce dalle esigenze tecniche, non dalle strategie di mercato. Sin dai tempi di papà Giacomo i prodotti nascevano dal basso, da esigenze semplici, a volte vere e proprie sfide nate da richieste di amici e compaesani. Le strategie, se mai ce ne sono state, sono sempre venute dopo».

Daniele, sei tu l’anima tecnica dell’azienda, cosa puoi dire in proposito?

«Sono d’accordo con Adriano. Io sono sempre stato un visionario, ben ancorato agli aspetti tecnici, ma svincolato da quelli commerciali. E su questo in realtà con Adriano ogni tanto discutiamo. Mi piace pensare in maniera trasversale, prendendo spunto da altri settori. Frequento le fiere più strane, da quelle tessili a quelle alimentari, per cercare di avere idee tecnologiche e innovative. Per trasferire le esperienze di altre menti e di altri campi nella produzione dei nostri sci. La struttura Hi-box dei nostri nuovi sci nasce ad esempio da una partnership con un’azienda tessile conosciuta a una fiera».

What memories do you have of your early childhood?

Daniele: «Memories of children who saw the office and workshop as one big playground. Our dad was always there and we were always underfoot, every so often getting into trouble. Then we started doing little tasks here and there and almost without realising it we slowly found ourselves a part of the production process».

Adriano, you studied Economics and Business. Did you know that you would one day work for Ski Trab or did you have other plans?

«I wasn’t sure. The title of my university thesis was ‘Competitive strategies in the ski market’, but when I graduated I wanted to try and stay in Milan. I had a small flat in Viale Padova and found myself a job at an accountant’s office, but they had me filling out accounts ledgers and I soon realised that it wasn’t for me».

So you transferred your skills and knowledge to the family business...

«Well, ours is a company that responds to technical needs, not market strategies.

Since dad’s time our products have been a result of simple requirements, sometimes even challenges from friends and locals. Any strategies, if indeed there have been any, have always come later».

Daniele, you are the technical heart of the company, what do you have to say about this?

«I agree with Adriano. I have always been a visionary, focusing on the technical aspects but not the business side, and it is this that Adriano and I argue most often about. I like to think in a broad way, taking inspiration from other sectors.

I go to the most random trade shows, from textiles to food, to try and have innovative technological ideas; to transfer the ideas of other people and other

Illustrami meglio il concetto di sfida.

«Significa prendere spunto da una specifica esigenza per porsi un traguardo tecnico di livello assoluto. Quando parte una sfida non penso ad altro, mi concentro su quella, su tutte le strategie utili per vincerla. Mi piace soprattutto innovare, più che seguire le strade altrui. Come ad esempio tanti anni fa, quando ho ideato i primi sci da pista sciancrati, in anticipo su tutte le grandi aziende. Poi ho addirittura realizzato un prototipo di sci a sciancratura variabile, con la coda che si allargava e si stringeva con due viti. È stato così anche per il Maestro, uno sci a ‘rocker attivo’, come lo chiamiamo noi, con le punte che non stanno lì rialzate ad aspettare la neve, ma si piegano solo se e quando serve. È una sfida anche tutto il settore del fondo che continuiamo a seguire, se devo essere sincero, con scarsa convenienza economica, ma con implicazioni tecniche di assoluto interesse».

Altre sfide in vista?

Daniele: «Il nostro nuovo attacco, nuovo per modo di dire, visto che lo stiamo sviluppando già da qualche anno. Ci siamo resi conto che l’interazione scarpone - attacco - sci è più importante di quanto si pensi. È un sistema, una catena di elementi che deve lavorare al meglio, eliminando vibrazioni, giochi e trasferendo gli impulsi dal piede alla neve nella maniera più diretta e prevedibile».

Adriano, non avete mai pensato a partnership tecniche o commerciali?

«No, è la nostra prerogativa. Saremo presuntuosi, ma preferiamo essere indipendenti, pensare con la nostra testa. È anche una questione di dimensioni, in realtà non vogliamo crescere troppo, ma mantenere più o meno lo status attuale. Mantenerlo bene, certo, essere sempre più competitivi e soddisfatti del nostro lavoro. Ci interessa anche continuare ad avere questo

Explain the concept of a challenge to me.

«It means to take a cue from a specific requirement to give yourself a technical goal. When this happens I don’t think about anything else, I concentrate solely on that, and all the necessary strategies to achieve it. Above all I like to innovate rather than follow in the footsteps of others; like when, for example, years ago when I came up with the first waisted skis before all the big companies. Then I even made a prototype of a ski with a variable waist, with a tail that could be widened or narrowed with two screws. Again with the ‘Maestro’, a ski with an ‘active rocker’ as we call it, the tips are not raised, but bend only when needed.

The cross country ski sector is also full of challenges, and we continue to work in it, even though admittedly with little financial motive, as it offers fascinating technical implications».

Any more challenges on the horizon?

Daniele: «Our ‘new’ binding, which we have been developing for the last few years. We realised that the interaction between the boot, binding and ski is more important than previously thought. It is a system, a chain of elements that needs to work better, eliminating vibrations, slacks and transferring impulses from the feet to the snow in the most direct and predictable way».

Adriano, haven’t you ever thought about technical or commercial partnerships?

«No, it is not the character of our company. Call us presumptuous but we prefer to be independent, and think for ourselves. It is also a question of dimensions, in all honesty we don’t want to grow too much, but more or less maintain our current

rapporto diretto con i nostri 20 collaboratori che ringrazio per il supporto e per la pazienza. Se fossero di più diventerebbero numeri. In questo modo ognuno di loro ha un rapporto diretto con la produzione, che segue a rotazione in ogni fase. Ogni sci è anche un po’ frutto del suo lavoro ed è tutto certificato dal codice individuale impresso sulle aste. È una questione di responsabilizzazione, ma anche di soddisfazione personale, unita al fatto che la maggior parte dei nostri dipendenti sono anche scialpinisti e quegli sci li usano e li testano personalmente».

In this way everyone has a direct link with production, which they follow by turns in every phase. Every ski is partly fruit of their labour, and is certified by the individual code printed on the shaft. It comes down to responsibility, as well as personal satisfaction, and the fact that most of our employees are also touring skiers who personally use and test our equipment for themselves.»

E poi c’è Bormio, immagino...

«Esatto, non vogliamo andarcene da qui. Ci sono le nostre radici, gli stessi motivi per cui la Ski Trab è nata a Bormio sono validi ancora adesso.

Anche se è difficile, Bormio è una località un po’ esclusiva e tutto è più complicato e costoso. Ma qui nella pausa pranzo usciamo e proviamo gli sci, o semplicemente ci teniamo in allenamento».

And then there is Bormio...

«Exactly, we don’t want to leave. Our roots are here, the same reasons that Skitrab was founded in Bormio are still valid now, even if it is difficult; Bormio is an exclusive area, and things can be complicated and expensive. But on our lunch break we use and try out our skis, or simply go to keep fit».

Siete entrambi maestri di sci e appassionati scialpinisti. Quanto conta nello sviluppo del prodotto?

Daniele: «È importante, ma non fondamentale. Abbiamo ottimi testatori, che sono anche amici e lavorano per noi dandoci tutti i feedback necessari.

Se però parliamo di passione, ogni volta che studio una soluzione innovativa non vedo l’ora di provarla sulla neve».

You are both ski instructors and ski touring enthusiasts. How much does this count in developing your product?

Daniele: «It is important, but not fundamental. We have excellent testers, who are also our friends, and who work for us giving all necessary feedback; although obviously every time I design a new innovation I can’t wait to try it out on the snow.»

Tutto, o quasi, come ai tempi di papà Giacomo, viene da pensare. Gli sci per sé e per gli amici, la gratitudine di chi li usa o ci vince le gare, gli stessi occhi che brillano quando parlano delle loro ‘sfide’, la casa attaccata all’azienda, le mogli che sopportano il lavoro-passione. E la prossima generazione?

Chissà...

It all makes you think, skis made for themselves and for their friends, the gratitude of those who use them or who win races with them, their eyes that light up when they talk about their ‘challenges’, the family home on top of the offices, the wives who put up with their work/passion - just like in Giacomo’s time. And the next generation? Who knows...

del contrabbando. Erano tempi duri e lo si faceva per sopravvivere. Era duro anche attraversare la frontiera con la Svizzera in pieno inverno con 35 chili di ‘bricola’ (lo zaino), qualcosa in più quando c’era il caffè. Bepino usava gli sci del suo amico Giacomo e li usava soprattutto di notte, fidandosi della sua abilità e di quei legni che dovevano per forza essere affidabili. In salita non aveva pelli di foca, ma semplici cordini arrotolati e la pipì sulla soletta era lo stratagemma dell’epoca per fare più presa sulla neve.

L’azienda nel frattempo cresceva, Giacomo ideava il logo, derivato semplicemente dal soprannome ‘tre buchi’ dato dagli amici: un disco di legno, tre buchi col trapano e via. La tecnologia era quello che era, chiusa all’inizio dalle montagne di Bormio. Ma Giacomo era un visionario e uno sperimentatore e con diversi stratagemmi riuscì a visitare le più importanti fabbriche di sci dell’epoca. Era anche un osservatore con una memoria fotografica strepitosa e, accompagnando un amico campione di sci in una famosa azienda, con indifferenza si intrufolò nel reparto produzione. Vide una macchina moderna e innovativa che poteva fare al caso suo, le girò attorno, la osservò per qualche minuto, poi tornò a casa e la costruì uguale.

I primi sci da scialpinismo arrivarono nel 1961, con la partecipazione di Giacomo al Rally del Monte Bianco. Erano gli ‘Stelvio’, costruiti in duralluminio per soddisfare le prime esigenze di leggerezza. L’attacco era una rudimentale evoluzione di quello dell’epoca, costruito in casa con le molle di un letto e la sciolina da fondo faceva da colla per le pelli di foca.

In seguito cominciarono a bazzicare la fabbrica Adriano e Daniele, i figli di Giacomo, prima utilizzando il capannone come teatro di gioco e poi aiutando il papà in piccoli lavoretti. Come quando negli anni ‘70 lo accompagnavano in giro per il Nord Italia a rilevare i macchinari delle aziende di sci in fallimento. Oppure quando erano messi a dura prova dall’altezza del bancone dove montavano i ‘formaggini’ Marker. Oppure all’opera sulla macchina per fare le canaline degli sci costruita dal papà con l’albero recuperato da un aereo americano caduto in Valle delle Mine.

Per finire col ‘segreto’ di Daniele, che smontò i tubi di un carrello per fare asciugare i legni e si costruì un fucile di precisione per la caccia alle pantegane.

Daniele l’anima tecnica e Adriano quella commerciale di Ski Trab. Furono loro a prendere in mano l’azienda nei primi anni Novanta, seguendo il solco scavato con mano decisa da Giacomo.

L’ingresso dei rampolli di seconda generazione coincise anche con l’evoluzione della ricerca tecnica, della leggerezza prima di tutto. In

Giacomo and his friends were tough; they would go into the mountains summer and winter. The first skis were for them, the first testers and spokespersons of the new company. It was difficult to cross the Swiss border in the middle of winter carrying a backpack weighing 35 kilos, sometimes more when there was coffee. Bepino used Giacomo’s skis, especially at night, trusting his skill and the skis - which had to be reliable. In ascent he didn’t have skins, but simply ropes wrapped around the ski, urinating on the base was the technique used at the time to give the skis more purchase on the snow.

In the meantime the business was growing; Giacomo came up with a logo, taken from his nickname ‘tre buchi’ (literally ‘three holes’) - a wooden disc with 3 holes drilled in it. Technology was what it was, the latest developments not available in places like Bormio; but Giacomo was a visionary who liked to experiment and he managed to visit the most important ski factories at the time. He was also very observant, with an excellent photographic memory, and once when visiting a famous ski factory with a friend of his who was also a champion skier, he nonchalantly managed to sneak in to the workshop. He saw a modern, innovative machine which would help him in his work, walked around it examining it closely for a few minutes, then went home and built one exactly the same.

The first Touring skis arrived in 1961, with Giacomo taking part in the Monte Blanc Rally using ‘Stelvio’ skis, made in duralumin to be more lightweight. The binding was a rudimentary version of those used at the time, made at home with bedsprings, and cross country ski wax was used as glue for the skins.

Soon Adriano and Daniele, Giacomo’s sons, began to hang around the workshop, first using it as a playroom, then helping their father with little tasks. Like in the 1970s when they accompanied him on a trip around Northern Italy to collect machines from bankrupt ski factories; or when they were given the hard task of fixing the first Marker bindings, the famous ‘formaggini’, onto the skis. Or at the machine, made by their father with the shaft taken from an American aeroplane which had crashed in the Mine

un’epoca in cui l’attrezzatura da scialpinismo era omologata a uno standard di peso che poco si discostava da quello della pista, nel mondo nascevano due storie parallele: quella di Ski Trab e quella di Fritz Barthel, inventore dell’attacchino Dynafit. Il principale anello di congiunzione fu ai tempi Adriano Greco, forte scialpinista valtellinese e, soprattutto, anima dello sci club Alta Valtellina. Fu Greco a rivolgersi ai giovani Trabucchi per suggerire di indirizzare i loro sforzi verso la leggerezza, spinto da esigenze personali, ma soprattutto dalla volontà di far crescere il vivaio di giovani atleti dello sci club. Erano gli albori dello scialpinismo agonistico, le gare in Italia erano poche e ancora con la vecchia formula dei rally. Una passione travolgente per tutti quella di Greco, che accompagnava i ragazzini in Francia a gareggiare e poi si dannava per trovare sponsor e migliorare l’attrezzatura. Non solo: alcuni dei ragazzi dello sci club andarono addirittura a lavorare in Ski Trab.

Greco formò poi con Fabio Meraldi una delle più forti coppie della storia dello scialpinismo e fu con Fabio che, ottenuti i primi Trab Piuma, bussò alla porta di casa di Fritz Barthel per avere anche i primi attacchini.

La storia agonistica di Ski Trab è cosa dei nostri giorni, fatta di successi come nessun’altra azienda. Gli atleti che usano i Race Aero Worldcup sono la netta maggioranza, con un’internazionalità che altro non è che l’esplosione di quel piccolo nucleo bormino. Se per le valtellinesi Francesca Martinelli e Roberta Pedranzini (pilastri della storia agonistica di Ski Trab) si è trattato di una scelta naturale, non è così per gli atleti stranieri, senza alcun vincolo territoriale o di convenienza.

Se parlate ad esempio con lo svizzero Martin Anthamatten vi dirà che la sua scelta è dettata dal fatto che in discesa i Trab sono i più affidabili e questo significa poter dare tutto senza paura di rotture. Florent Troillet pone l’accento sull’ambiente familiare, sul fatto che parlare con Adriano, col capo, è nello stesso tempo parlare con un tecnico e con un amico. La fuoriclasse francese Laetitia Roux usa solo due parole: «Simply the best».

Valley, making grooves for the skis. And lastly Daniele’s ‘secret’, dismantling the tubes of a cart to dry out the wood and build a shotgun for hunting sewer rats.

Daniele represents the technical side of Ski Trab, and Adriano the business side. They took over the company in the early 1990s, following the path laid by Giacomo.

The handing over of the reigns to the second generation coincided with the evolution in technical research, and the focus on lack of weight. At a time when ski touring equipment was similar in weight to Alpine skiing equipment, two parallel stories began, belonging to Ski Trab, and to Fritz Barthel, inventor of the Dynafit binding. The first link in the chain was Adriano Greco, a very good ski tourer from Valtellina, and the heart and soul of the Alta Valtellina Ski Club. It was Greco who suggested to Trabucchi to make the equipment lighter, not only for personal reasons, but also to encourage young athletes from the ski club. Competitive ski touring was still in its infancy, there were very few races in Italy, and those that did exist were still in the old rally formula. Greco’s passion for the sport was such that he would accompany the children to France for races, would look everywhere for sponsors, and try anything to improve the equipment. Some of the ski club members even went on to work for Ski Trab. At the time Greco and Fabio Meraldi were one of the best pairs in the history of Ski touring, and it was Meraldi who, when he got hold of the first Piuma skis, went to Fritz Barthel for his first bindings. Ski Trab’s record in races and competitions is second to none. The vast majority of athletes use the Race Aero World Cup ski – meaning athletes from all over the world use skis from the little Bormio based factory. If for local athletes like Francesca Martinelli and Roberta Pedranzini (two pillars of Ski Trab’s competitive success) the choice was a natural one, this is not the case for the many foreign athletes that use their equipment, not bound by territorial ties or convenience.

If for example you talk to the Swiss Martin Anthamatten, he will tell you that his choice was down to the fact that Ski Trab skis are more reliable in descent, meaning he can give the maximum performance without having to worry about breakages. Florent Troillet mentions the familiar nature of the business, and the fact that talking to Adriano, the boss, is like talking at the same time to a technician and a friend. The excellent skier Laetitia Roux uses three simple words: ‘simply the best’. But there is one more person

Porta al debutto un’inedita gabbia in carbonio e innovativi inserti ammortizzanti In ogni ambito, in ogni epoca, presso ogni civiltà, la storia registra un momento, un istante, un punto di svolta rispetto alla consuetudine. Un lampo che cambia il modo di avvicinarsi, d’interpretare, di vivere una determinata dimensione.

Maestro, nella storia della produzione Ski Trab e in generale degli sci grantour, rappresenta quel cambiamento. Attingendo a tecnologie cardine per la ‘factory’ bormina quali la struttura a 14 strati e l’architettura del leggero, si spinge oltre, introducendo concetti inediti come la flessibilità progressiva, gli inserti Attivo e la gabbia in carbonio HiBox.

La flessione progressiva La struttura a 14 strati e l’anima in composito alveolare in aramide adottate da Maestro attingono all’esperienza degli sci da gara Race Aero World Cup. Soluzioni che consentono ai grantour valtellinesi, novità 2012-2013, di risultare oltre 100 grammi più leggeri rispetto ai precedenti Duo Sint Aero, attestandosi a 950 grammi nella misura 171 cm. La lotta al peso è però soltanto l’avvisaglia della ventata di rinnovamento introdotta da Maestro.

Legata, in primis, al concetto di flessibilità progressiva; ovvero la differenziazione della risposta elastica in funzione delle diverse aree dell’attrezzo. It is debuting a brand new carbon cage and innovative shock absorbing inserts.

Throughout history certain defining moments have changed the way we see and do things. Maestro, in the history of Ski Trab production, and for grantour skis in general, has done just that. Drawing on cornerstone technologies for the Bormio based factory like the 14-layer structure and lightweight construction, it goes even further, introducing new concepts like progressive flexibility, Attivo inserts, and the HiBox carbon cage.

Progressive flexion The 14-layer structure and the aramid honeycomb compound core used for the Maestro draw on the experience gained in producing the Race Aero World Cup, allowing the Valtellinese grantour skis, season 2012-13, to be over 100 g lighter than their predecessor Duo Sint Aero, weighing 950 g for the 171 cm ski. The reduction in weight is only the first of many innovations introduced with the Maestro. Most important is the concept of progressive flexibility, or the differentiation of the elastic response in different areas of the ski; thus benefitting from soft fluid reactions of the tip, improving ease of skiing and floating in deep snow. It also obtains the same, if not better, effects as

Una gabbia in carbonio a trama particolarmente sottile che avvolge internamente la struttura dello sci, conferendogli una rigidità torsionale decisamente superiore, fino al 46 per cento, rispetto a prodotti d’analoga estrazione privi di tale tecnologia. È HiBox, innovazione al debutto con Maestro in grado d’influenzare la risposta in torsione dell’attrezzo senza inficiarne la flessione. Uno dei principali plus tecnologici appannaggio dell’inedito grantour Ski Trab, al pari del sistema d’ammortizzazione Attivo. Quest’ultimo prevede inserti polimerici collocati longitudinalmente, lungo il piano sci e in corrispondenza delle lamine, nella parte sia anteriore sia posteriore delle aste.

Inserti che hanno il compito di assorbire le vibrazioni assicurando maggiore stabilità a Maestro, proteggendo al contempo la struttura in caso d’impatto sugli spigoli. Un’innovazione che cambia la concezione tradizionale dello sci grantour. Mutano i punti di riferimento. Con Maestro l’asticella della qualità e delle prestazioni si sposta più in alto. A carbon cage with a particularly soft texture which wraps the interior of the ski, giving it a markedly superior torsional rigidity, up to 46% compared to similar products without the same technology; HiBox is an innovation making its debut with the Maestro, which influences the torsion response of the ski without compromising the flex. It is one of the main technological advantages of the new Ski Trab grantour, along with the Attivo shock absorber system. This uses polymeric inserts distributed along the length of the ski alongside the edge both at the front and at the back of the ski. These inserts absorb vibrations, making the Maestro more stable and at the same time protecting its structure in case of impact on the edges; an innovation that changes the traditional concept of the grantour ski, and all previous points of reference. With the Maestro the bar of quality and performance is set higher. The typical lightness of race models is combined with a better ease of skiing, better floating in off piste conditions, a larger surface area and a marked torsional rigidity. The flex is progressive, the form, innovative. Maestro by name and by nature, the Ski Trab grantour is a precursor to a new line of ‘magic’ skis.

Sicurezza globale All round safety Debutterà nel 2013 il rivoluzionario attacco TR2. Promette una precisione e una fedeltà nella trasmissione degli impulsi sconosciute a ogni altro dispositivo da ski-alp. Lo standard di sicurezza va oltre lo sci alpino, adattandosi a ogni aspetto dello scialpinismo Ski Trab è sinonimo di sci. Sebbene vanti una gamma di prodotti decisamente vasta, attacchini race inclusi - basti pensare al progetto TR-Race nato 4 anni fa - l’immagine della ‘factory’ bormina resta fortemente legata alle proprie aste. Perché, allora, investire ingenti risorse nell’invenzione di un attacco rivoluzionario, diverso da ogni altro dispositivo esistente? La risposta è semplice: per amore verso i propri sci. Il progetto TR2 nasce così, con l’obiettivo di garantire il massimo piacere di sciata. Di creare un ritrovato che influenzi il meno possibile il comportamento degli attrezzi; che non alteri le proprietà delle aste ‘made in Bormio’ ma, anzi, ne esalti precisione e reattività.

Un attacco che sia ‘carta carbone’ delle gesta dello ski-alper, che esalti la comunicazione tra sciatore e sci, scongiurando i ritardi di risposta tipici dei concorrenti. Elevando, anzi ampliando, lo standard di sicurezza ai gesti e all’ambiente scialpinistico dove l’attacco è chiamato ad adattarsi a molteplici condizioni.

Cinque anni di sviluppo Il rivoluzionario progetto Ski Trab nasce da lontano, più precisamente dall’esigenza, particolarmente sentita dai fratelli Trabucchi, di purificare il comportamento dei propri sci dagli influssi negativi degli attacchi in commercio. Un’esigenza che ha portato a un incessante sviluppo, lungo cinque anni, del ritrovato che nel 2013 farà il proprio debutto ufficiale.

Un dispositivo che riduce la trasmissione di risonanze o vibrazioni negative alle aste. TR2, questo il suo nome, ridefinirà i parametri per la valutazione delle prestazioni in discesa, spingendosi al contempo oltre gli standard vigenti. Questi, in primis le norme ISO, prendono in considerazione esclusivamente la fase di sgancio, dimostrandosi profondamente ancorati alle esigenze e caratteristiche dello sci alpino.

TR2 si farà invece carico della sicurezza in ogni fase dello scialpinismo: discesa, salita, passaggi tecnici, cambi d’assetto. Come? Grazie al puntale agevolmente bloccabile in ogni frangente e alla talloniera che consente di passare dal tallone libero alla discesa senza rotazioni della torretta e senza togliere gli sci. Garantendo un peso inferiore ai modelli da freeride mountaineering e, soprattutto, il pieno controllo nei passaggi di stampo più alpinistico. La sicurezza va oltre lo sci alpino. Diviene globale.

The revolutionary TR2 binding is due to make its debut in 2013. It offers a precision and reliability in transmitting impulses that no other ski-touring binding does. The safety standard goes beyond Alpine skiing, adapting itself to every aspect of ski touring.

Ski Trab is synonymous with skiing. Although it offers a vast range of products, race bindings included - like the TR-Race project which began 4 years ago - the image of the Bormio based factory is firmly linked to its skis.

Why then invest so many resources into the invention of a revolutionary new binding, different to all others currently on the market? The answer is simple: for a love of their skis. The TR2 project began in this way, with the aim of guaranteeing the best skiing experience. To create something that influences as little as possible the movement of the equipment; that doesn’t alter the characteristics of the ‘made in Bormio’ skis but rather compliments their precision and reactivity. A binding which offers a ‘carbon copy’ of the touring skier’s movements, improving communication between the skier and their skis, beating hands down the slower response of the competition.

In doing so raising, or rather widening, the standard of safety of movement and the ski touring environment, where the binding is required to adapt to a number of different conditions.

5 years in the making The revolutionary Ski Trab project began due to the need, keenly felt by the Trabucchi brothers, to ‘purify’ the performance of their skis from the negative influence of the other bindings on the market. A need which lead to an incessant development period of 5 years, for the binding that will make its official debut in 2013; a piece of equipment which reduces the transmission of negative reverberations or vibrations to the ski. The TR2 as it is called, will redefine the parameters used in assessing downhill performance, while pushing beyond current standards. These standards, especially the ISO regulations, only take into consideration the binding release phase, highlighting the fact that they are still focusing on the demands and characteristics of Alpine skiing. TR2 on the other hand will offer safety in every phase of the touring ski experience, in descent, in ascent, during technical passages or changing movements. How? Thanks to the tip which can be easily blocked at any time and the heel which allows you to pass from free heel to downhill without rotating the heel fastener or taking the ski off. This guarantees lower weight in the freeride mountaineering models and above all full control in the most common ski touring movements. Safety is moving beyond Alpine skiing, it is going global; modelled according to the requirements of the ski-tourer. An integrated binding/boot system is born.

FATTI DA Trab MADE IN TRAB Prestazioni, affidabilità, attenzione per i dettagli, estro e inventiva: lo spirito Ski Trab permea una completissima gamma di accessori. Dallo zaino stretch da gara alla fascetta porta lampada frontale, cura artigianale e ricerca scientifica sono una costante Bastoni, caschi, guanti, zaini, pelli di foca, capi d’abbigliamento, ghette, ramponi e imbraghi. La globalizzazione secondo Ski Trab. Una globalizzazione in chiave alpina, totalmente votata allo scialpinismo. Zaini e lampade: idee innovative Maestro è il precursore di una nuova generazione di grantour. L’estro e l’inventiva dei fratelli Trabucchi non si esauriscono però in ambito sci. Gli zaini ‘made in Bormio’, ad esempio, sono stati i primi dotati di portasci a fissaggio rapido, scomparto dedicato ai ramponi e tasca multiuso esterna.

Una vitalità la cui eredità è raccolta dal nuovo World Cup Aero Pack, sacco race dall’accentuata ergonomia. Una ‘seconda pelle’ destinata agli agonisti, dalla capacità di 15 litri e dal peso contenuto in 200 grammi. Altrettanto innovativa la fascetta porta lampada, che risponde alle esigenze di quanti s’allenano al buio e non desiderano indossare il casco. Idee nuove, spirito costante. Spirito Ski Trab. Il ‘made in Bormio’ si espande, cresce abbracciando e caratterizzando ambiti apparentemente lontani, esempio di una realtà che vive di scialpinismo.

The creativity and inventiveness of the Trabucchi brothers are not limited to skis alone. Their ‘made in Bormio’ backpacks, for example, were the first to have quick fix ski holders, a special compartment for crampons and an external multi use pocket. The new World Cup Aero Pack is the next generation, a ‘second skin’ designed for racers with a 15 litre capacity weighing just 200g.

The new headlamp design is just as innovative, ideal for those who train at night and don’t want to wear a helmet. Grande novità tecnica per la stagione 2012/13; più leggero del precedente sint aero e soprattutto più prestazionale.

Viene utilizzata una costruzione basata sulla tradizionale “Lightweight Technology 14 layer“ a cui sono state aggiunte 2 soluzioni tecnologiche completamente innovative.

Hibox Technology: consiste in una gabbia di carbonio a trama molto sottile in grado di conferire una rigidità torsionale decisamente superiore, abbinata ad un flex longitudinale più morbido.

Tecnologia Attivo: sono inseriti degli elementi in polimero strutturale in senso longitudinale sui fianchi superiori che hanno le funzioni di assorbire le vibrazioni e dare maggiore stabilità allo sci ed inoltre fungono da protezione della struttura evitando che lo sci sia danneggiato da colpi e tagli che potrebbero facilmente intaccare gli spigoli e aprire la struttura interna.

Innovativo il nuovo sistema di bloccaggio / sgancio pelli, più semplice e veloce grazie all’esclusiva e brevettata linguetta che si maneggia facilmente in qualunque condizione. La struttura in composito alveolare in Aramide lo rende uno sci leggerissimo e la scatola di torsione in carbonio dà una rigidità torsionale che migliora la tenuta e la conduzione in curva.
