Spring Dance Explodes with Fun and Excitement; Five Scholarships Awarded; LeRoy Lowery tapped for Brother of the Year Award
Mu Lambda held its annual Henry Arthur Callis Scholarship Fund Spring Dance on Friday, May 17 on the campus of the Uni¬ versity of Maryland at College Park. This blacLtie event in the Adult Education Center was an opportunity for the Chapter to once again raise funds for the awarding of scholarships to de¬ serving local students.
This year, five scholarships of $1000 each were awarded to five local students. The recipients were William E. Hendrick, Banneker Science High School, who will at¬ tend Howard University to major in biology; Marcus J. Spells, Dun¬ bar Senior High School, who will attend Florida A&M University to pursue electrical engineering;
Ronald P. Cunningham, Anacostia Senior High School, who will en¬ ter Georgetown University to ma¬ jor in journalism; Lashone N. Nor¬ wood, Woodson High School, who will attend Virginia Union Univer¬ sity, majoring in psychology; and Bennie F. Johnson, McKinley Sen¬ ior High School, who will attend Yale University to pursue adouble major in architecture and political science.

Dean Ramsey's Challenge (continued from page 1)
In addition, he ouUined his goals and the progress of the School of Law in developing clinical programs of ana¬ tional stature.
Brother Ramsey also appealed to the Chapter to support the creation of the "SOO Club” at the Law School. He informed us that, during the period of the celebration of the bicentennial of the Constirution of the United States, Howard, along with four other law schools, was awarded acongressional grant of $800,000, to suppon apro¬ gram or chair in constitutional law. In order to receive this grant, each school was required to raise $200,000 in matching funds. The Law School, therefore, is in danger of losing the $800,000 grant if the remaining $200,000 are not raised by tlie Uni¬ versity.
The Law School, under Brother Ramsey has launched an ambitious campaign to raise $500,000. This campaign is reaching out to alumni, to faculty members, and to civic and corporate sponsors, in an effort to raise this money. The first 500 con¬ tributors to donate $1000 to this cam¬ paign will be known as the ”500 Club,” and their names will appear on aplaque that will pemianenily be dis¬ played at the Law School.
As the chapter of Charles Hamil¬ ton Houston, Mu Lambda should ea¬ gerly participate in this effort to fund aconstitutional law program at Ho¬ ward. Bring your checks to the June Chapter meeting, so that our Chapter can lend its official suptx)n to the ef¬ forts of our Brother Ramsey and the Howard Law School. Over $200 was collected at the May Chapter meeting. Brothers Elmer J. Moore (2712 Ten¬ nyson N.W., 20015, phone number 202-363-2909) and Daniel M. Pritch¬ ard. m(4200 19th Street N.E.,20018; phone number, 202-526-1228) are our coordinators.
In addition to the program in con¬ stitutional law, the proceeds of this campaign will support The Jurist, the alumni magazine of the Law School, the C. Clyde Ferguson Lecture Series, and Howard's moot court programs. □
