Message from the President

Brother Edwin F. Norwood, III

'A New Year’s Message'

Ihope the holiday season has been full of memories with family and friends. When we meet as abrotherhood again, it will be anew year that is full of promise and opportunities. The past year has been atime of achievement and progress for the chapter. Working together, brothers in Mu Lambda chapter have made a direct Impact on the citizens and communities across the Washington D.C. metro area. In the New Year, we will build on these successes, embracing the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The year, 2004, ended with adebate from two brothers vying to lead the Eastern Region. Mu Lambda hosted one of the first Eastern Region Vice President’s Debates during its December chapter meeting. The success of this event was led and moderated by Brother Lamar Arnold. This debate provided brothers with the opportunity to Interact directly with the future leaders of the Eastern Region. Other successes In 2004 include providing many scholarships to DC high school seniors, leading avoter registration drive that Introduced Washington D.C. citizens to the power of the vote, leading Project Alpha programs at Washington D.C. middles schools to teach young men about the consequences of sexual activity from amale perspective, donating over $6,000 to the MLK Memorial, implementing the fraternity’s Go To High School, Go to College program via a successful 9*^ Annual Beautillion Program, hosting a successful Black and Gold Scholarship Gala to raise scholarship money for the Mu Lambda Foundation,

EXECUTIVE

MESSAGE (from Page 1)

Membership News

The Upcoming Beautillion Upcoming Alpha Conventions sponsoring 10 young men to the Eastern Region Leadership Development Institute, and making significant progress on our chapter house. These accomplishments are only afew of our successful programs over the last year.

In 2005, there are many challenges and opportunities facing the chapter. One of our most important programs is the 10‘^ Annual Henry Arthur Callis Beautillion. Brothers, Iknow that you understand the significance of this program to many people in the Washington DC community and across the fraternity. This program has made a visible and direct impact on young men in the Washington D.C. metro area for almost adecade. Mu Lambda’s interaction with over 100 young men has led to scholarships, mentoring relationships (for long after the Beautillion is complete) and the growth of the beaus and the brothers. Every brother needs to find away to support this program. Brothers can serve as mentors to these young men; brothers can take out an ad in the souvenir journal; and brothers can help the Beautillion committee by identifying corporate sponsors to contribute to the Beautillion. Every brother should make sure to get tickets for this historical event. The success of this program relies on the support of every Mu Lambda brother. Kudos to Brother Kwame Ulmer and his committee; they continue to work hard to make our 10*^ Annual Henry Arthur Callis Beautillion the highlight of the year.

In the spirit of Brotherhood, Iwish you and your family ahappy and prosperous new year.
