The Official Newsletter of Mu Lambda Chapter

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

June, 2009

Message from the Vice-President

June is a month filled with congratulatory recognition for many Brothers.

We would like to first congratulate all of the recent graduates and parents of recent graduates! We are especially proud to recognize Brothers Sam Armstrong, Justin Davis, Larry Keen II, and Jermaine Wilson on receiving Masters Degrees during this season. We also send congratulations to our Brothers in Beta chapter who are now moving on to new stages and greater achievements in life. It is our hope that Brothers who are remaining in the Washington DC metropolitan area will continue to be active in this great Brotherhood by joining the ranks of Mu Lambda chapter. Alpha Phi Alpha has long carried the banner of “Knowledge and Achievement”. As we espouse these ideals, we recognize our communities, our nation, and indeed our Fraternity are strengthened by Brothers and all who invested in the beliefs of pursuing higher education.

We would like to also congratulate in the month of June all Fathers, Grandfathers, Great-Grandfathers, God-fathers, and mentors as we wish you a HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY! I think of the impact my father and my grandfather had on my education, my well being, and my morals. Though many fathers and grandfathers go unrecognized for their efforts, Mu Lambda chapter does not take your role for granted. Our hats are off to you as you lead your family as God would lead you. This is no small task, and as Alpha Men, I rest assured that someone is all the greater in life because of you!

On Sunday June 21st (FATHERS’ DAY), celebrate with your children/grandchildren/mentees by taking part in the many activities that Alpha Phi Alpha has planned. Leadership Development Institute will be concluding on June 21st and is an excellent opportunity to share with your family how your fraternity is investing in the future of young
