We had another great turnout at our March Community Council Meeting. There were a number of topics aired including the road closure at Garronhill, the state of the road surface on the Strathaven Road and likewise on the Furnace Road. We are assured that both of these are on the resurfacing programme which starts at the beginning of the new financial year which is the 1st April. The issue of fly tipping was again discussed and the Council arranged to clear the rubbish dumped in the lay-by near the entrance of Greenburn Farm.
Two members of the council’s housing department were in attendance and gave an update with regards to the current situation re voids and the waiting list. It was noted that there are currently no voids and there are 18 people on the waiting list. They agreed to come back at a later meeting to give a further update. Concern was raised with about the state of some of the gardens and it was agreed that a walk round would be arranged and in the meantime the housing inspector would carry out a survey to find out the extent of the problem.
A young person who attends the CC meetings and who recently contacted the council about getting some play equipment for older children gave an update about his meeting with the council officers to discuss his proposal. The feedback from the council was positive so well done to the young person.
Robert Jacobs was co-opted onto the Community Council which means we have a full complement of 13. With Robert’s skill set I am sure he will become a valuable member of the group.
Our next meeting is on the 3rd of April so if you have any issues you want to raise please come along you will be made most welcome.

Since the last news issue Kirk had appointed another manager but unfortunately it soon became pretty obvious that the appointment wasn’t working and we parted company. We have now reverted to the senior players headed by goalkeeper Nathan Bogle taking charge of the team.
