- To perform a more detailed inspection of the building every 12 months.

- Checking the building after severe weather and taking appropriate action.

- Liaising with building tradespeople when needed.

Billy Ormiston - An Appreciation To the guys who used to attend the Burns Suppers at St Thomas Hall, Billy passed away recently, he will be sadly missed.

He was born and brought up in Cumnock, but he had close ties in Muirkirk.

He spent weekends and holidays at his Grandpa's who was Chum Samson who lived in Lovedale Crescent.

Billy married Mary Beck from Muirkirk they moved to England and brought up a family there. They had three daughters, one still lives in Rigside. Billy and Mary came back and lived in Douglas for the past few years. Billy was a joiner, clever with his hands. His hobby was making Guitars and Mandolin's and he sold quite a few all over the UK. He was an accomplished musician playing both those instruments and the small pipes, He also sung very well, and gave Muirkirk Burns suppers some great nights to remember. He ran the Douglas Folk Festivals, and brought some great acts through the years.

He will be sadly missed by his Douglas friends and all the folk at the festivals he used to attend.

He has been buried along side Mary in Muirkirk Cemetery.
