The Delusion Insanity: is doing the same thing over and over again, and maybe over that one last time just to make sure you royally f*&%ed it up, all the while expecting a different result. Now, we have all done this maybe just not the perfect people, you mob are an exception. So, for the other 99% of us, let that percolate deep within your psyche, while you reminisce about all areas of your life you diligently applied this to, over the years.

In the wake of COVID and several other world crises over the decades, on the ground the people have always recovered but needed time to regroup and COVID is no exception. It is clear, when you look closely, governing bodies, that they are failing to administer adequate support at grass roots level, which then creates a ripple affect. Time for a shake up! Change it up, I say! The great thing about what COVID did, is that she successfully exposed the systemic incompetence, which runs rife through our governing bodies. The cracks in the system need a big flush out, like peroxide straight into a festering wound, watch it bubble and spew out the pus, so it can have the chance to heal again.

One area that is greatly needing peroxide down its throat is Human Services. When I phone this department, I am talking to a robot, not a human, and on hold for the best part of an hour or more, and most of the time with no result! Robo debt is another shining example of inadequate systems, that severely impact people’s welfare in a negative way. Painful, imagine our pensioners, sole parents, disabled, young people or non-English speaking demographic? How frustrating, we pay huge taxes for the government to only implement systems that are ineffective and cause people’s mental health to decline from the stress of having to use them. Crazy! So basically, taxes are paid, for a system that does not work. I want to know if there is a warranty? Can we get our taxes back for a dud system? History

In WWII this was a bomb and mines storage shed. The barges would come into the bay with ammo and off load at the concrete train track like ramps you see at the waters edge. The mine explosives were anchored underwater and when an enemy vessel would go over the top they would explode. A few years after this, the enemy started to de-magnetised their vessels with large wire rope, to avoid the underwater mines being able to detect them. Here is what remains of this today.

Politics on a whole I understand that most people, like myself, do not have a thorough understanding on the subject, or a great interest. After all, it was never a subject at school and were unknowingly dealing with our own politics in the school yard or classroom. Now, for the most part we tend to see, thru the media, grossly overpaid individuals who we do not know, nor hear from, nor see unless it is election time. They administer our tax dollars into often half-baked ineffective outcomes, that we never asked for! It is no wonder points of view are very mixed in the political arena. Whether you do or do not understand, I can guarantee that it will always impact you in some way - eventually.

Negative or positive, the impacts are almost certainly going to influence our children, our livelihoods, our health and education benefits, our travel restrictions, our taxes, our retirements plans, and our investment choices.

If I was ever running the joint, well one people would leave the country and that would solve part of it for me, ha, I would carry out a political governance overhaul. Hypothetically speaking, I would call it a Political Performance Management (PPM for government acronym sakes). If you do not perform, you do not get paid, you do not get a pay raise, you do not get a free pension upon

retirement, you do not get free flights, and you do not get promoted, you do not get to move sideways in the latest ‘restructure’ or retain your position what!so!-everrrrr! Just like us down here, you know the dumb dumbs that pay our taxes to fund YOUR jobs, planes, pay rises and pensions! More accountability required I say!

If they wanted to truly serve the people (the taxpayer, their employers), they would introduce some sort of performance management poll where everyone could rate their performance quarterly. It would serve two purposes, keep the people up to date on what they have achieved or are working towards and allow feedback based on their outcomes to date. I would also introduce a “No Tax’ and free health care for over 70’s, revamp the child support system and bring back the cane at school for parents and kids. Work that one out! Ha, ha!

Arnhem Artists Latryce Pearse

A well deserved win and a huge congratulations to our very own homegrown talent, Latryce Pearse! One of Australia’s largest recruitment companies held a competition for employees to submit a piece of art with the theme, “Always Will, Always Will Be.” Latryce entered a submission along with several other entrants and was unanimously awarded the prize!

Her piece will now feature on work uniforms and digital marketing nationwide! Latryce has only recently discovered her artistic flare for painting on canvas, yidaki’s and shells. However, it looks like she is going in the right direction for her hobby to grow. Latryce’s artwork is very impressive, each piece unique with a contemporary feel. She draws inspiration from her Polynesian Yolgnu heritage, love of vibrant colours and her passion for telling a story.

Blind Freddy can see that locals foot the bill, support the services in town every day and have for years, then everyone else receives the benefits! Yaka manymak true god! A bit of fine tuning to do here on this one I reckon.

Community petition?

Airlines: who would like some change, some value for money, a nice meal for $500 or more?! Why not a permanent Locals rate, with zero conditions? No fuss refund on cancellations etc? After all we pay a premium for a sub-standard service. Again who is responsible and accountable for us getting shafted all the time? How do we get the same deal as Garma time for example, this time of year magically the flight frequency increases, reliability is 99% and at drastically reduce prices but any other time the locals pay out the rear end, all year, for years, for a service that sometimes fails to you to your destination? F*&k me dead? We are all disadvantaged, five cancellations some weeks, this has negative impacts, freight, post, security, patient travel, health department, hire car businesses, passengers and I am sure a lot more. Paying a premium should = Receiving a premium something!

The Permit System: Last line, I camp to shit in the bush, I grew up crapping in a bucket on a boat, so why would I want to share a dunny with 20 other people, that I don’t know mind you, eww gross! Especially when the wind comes up the opposite way mid stream or crap and you get it all back! Fu*k that man.

Give me an aqua bog any day. Locals are not used to camping like tourists, with caravan park perks and having to camp on top of each other. Let’s get back to basics and common sense again, as for traditional owners wanting it, well that is all well and good but when younger traditional owners among us are being abused by visitors or newbies – something ain’t right with that.

The Track: was there 280 million floating around to be spent on our Central Arnhem highway? A little communication, some updates and transparency on the matter would be a welcome. I mean how many more people must die, roll over and get stranded before we get some action? We all want to a safer journey when heading out with the family and a few less flat tyres? We understand it is a privately owned, government funded road, has there been an announcement re planning or any further details since the announcement? Surely, a portion of the government funding is derived from taxpayers, aren’t we, the taxpayer, entitled to an update or a say? We drive it more than anyone else, wouldn’t it make sense to get our input? Surely, if the government can call, text, knock at your door and email you during an election campaign, we can receive updates on significant matters?

Covid Perspectives Jade | New Zealand The Good: The news reports are factual and not fear-based. The citizens actually adhere to the lockdown guidelines and the public places are very organized. All shops, no matter how big or small, have mandatory sign-in sheets, antibacterial hand sanitizer at the entry, and a 1-meter spacing policy.

The Bad: Mostly, we are just worried about other countries and are having to remain isolated. This includes who is allowed into the country. Not going to lie, it is mostly good here. We try not to stress at all, but we are taking things very seriously.

Cases & deaths are rampant and masks have been politicized to the point where wearing one is considered an infringement of one’s rights and freedoms. The government and the CDC can’t seem to come to common ground on the proper safety measures.

The silver lining is that, for some of us, it has helped us realize that we need to have compassion for others during these difficult times. Americans tend to be individualists to a fault, so this call to empathy is crucial. It’s a reminder to focus on positivity.

Business Boggle Local small business operators tend to be singing the same song, especially the ones who, unfortunately had to be shut during covid. We are all navigating through a global pandemic, the labyrinth of government grants and other business ‘rescue’ assistance that has been thrown at us from all different directions. In addition to this, we are anxious for family, loved one’s interstate and are also dealing with living in a time that has ultimately turned our world upside down. The idea behind having all this assistance available is great but the administering is not, nor is it conducive to small business success. For example, we have put in over 300 hours filling out forms, having meetings with governing bodies, and come up with ZERO $/ to date – legit, bayngu rrupiyh.

After three months of jumping through hoops, like a monkey at circus, supplying financials, person information, completing the applications with one particular organization, only to be told there was no money, at the table when we were about to sign, mind you! All the while we were in and out of hospital, and since then, not one single phone call to follow up and offer us assistance thru covid.

Question: I would like someone to help us understand, that if a website says you are here to help, and your social media says this also, why are we not receiving help? Why is this process not an easy one for small business? For small business owners with a severe mental illness and learning disability this is system is not practical.

Oh wait but there is more, now I sound like a friggin’ demtell ad, I mean the, plethora of information is overwhelming, mind boggling and unnecessarily time consuming for small business. The information overload struggle is real,

just take a look at this for example, job seeker, job keeper, business & homeowner improvement scheme, biz secure, tourism vouchers, cashflow boost, trades support scheme, small business survival fund, banks deferring payments, early release superannuation, support for corona virus affected regions, communities, and so on.

Now here is the kicker, not only do you have more choice than you can poke a stick at but you can be further frustrated and become more confused by having to navigate your way through the multitude of websites and portals to gain access to even start the process, which will no doubt have you feeling more anxious than burke and wills setting out on their first expedition.

Humor is a coping mechanism that I use to manage life’s frustrations, so I demanding change, and this cannot be achieved alone.
