Our Ladies - The Wasps

Team Strength

Below are the observations of Kate, another Wasp’s team member

It’s hard not to enjoy being a Wasp at the minute. Our track record this season is obviously fantastic, but the work that’s gone on behind the scenes to get these results is the most exciting part. These wins haven’t come from nothing. Training has been intense; we’ve been introduced to new tactics and skills, whilst being constantly challenged by our coaches and each other.

It’s been evident in our games that improved fitness has played a key role in our success, allowing us to play exciting rugby for the full 80 minutes. This improvement is purely down to commitment and hard work at training, from both players and coaches. This has been noticed by Mark Hodgkiss in his match reports, who we have to thank for his dedication to attending not only all of our home games but all away matches too. We all very much appreciate the time and effort you put into supporting the Wasps!

Throughout the season, we’ve had a large number of player debuts. This is testament to the Wasps ethos and atmosphere. Whilst we are a competitive team, there is always room for new players. It’s not too late to become a part of our team either!

Today they are away at Glossop and hopefully injuries will not stop them from being able to travel and field a strong team, although the colts will be missed.

Good luck lads

Richard

Our next home match on Sunday the 12th of February sees us come up against Blaydon, currently 2nd in the league. This should be a great game to watch and I highly encourage everyone watching today’s game to come down.

Past results are immaterial; we’ve set ourselves a standard, now it’s on us to build upon that and finish the season playing our best rugby.

Kate Birchall

Many thanks, NOTE 12th Feb. when we can see you at home-Richard
