Cocke County Education Foundation
NEWPORT - The Education Foundation held the annual scholarship reception at Memorial Baptist Church. The event brings together donors and recipients.
The foundation manages more than $1 million. Foundation Chairman Dr. Rich Lloyd said every dollar of those funds comes from Cocke County.
“Without donors, this event would not be possible. These scholarships allow many students to further their education,” he said.
For the 2025-2026 school year the foundation awarded $85,000 in scholarships. The total presented at the event, some of which are four-year awards, was $150,000. He said the foundation started with only $2,000 for scholarships.
