Watauga’s best in 2022 BY MOSS BRENNAN
T
he last year saw businesses began to return to a more normal operation after more than two years of COVID-19. While COVID-19 is still with us and has still caused challenges, the business community in Watauga County has put their best foot forward to continue doing what they do best — serving the community. The Watauga Democrat Best of the Best awards are in the 12th year of being presented, and second year of being awarded in an irregular way. Before COVID-19, the award winners were honored at a grand event hosted by the Mountain Times Publications staff. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, winners were contacted by Mountain Times Publications staff to be congratulated individually for a second straight year. Sponsors for the 2022 awards are Blue Ridge Energy, Peabodys Wine & Beer Merchants, The Pedalin’ Pig and Ross Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Community members got to vote for their favorite businesses with more than 150 categories to choose from. The efforts of local businesses didn’t go unnoticed by the community, as demonstrated by the enthusiasm of voters to show support for the Best of the Best of Watauga business. The Watauga Democrat applauds each of the winners as they are recognized, and remains thankful for the tireless work each of them continue to give to the area.
