WHAT DRIVES YOU?
Developing White Space - M3 Thoughts In Greek Mythology, a character was banished to a level of hell to be constantly tortured for his wrong doings. Tantalus was his name, now a proverbial term for temptation without satisfaction. (1) Tantalus was to stand in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree with low branches. Whenever he reached for the fruit, the branches raised his intended meal from his grasp. Whenever he bent down to get a drink, the water receded before he could get any. - As a designer I can relate to the Tantalus story, since designers are trapped in the realm of what the client needs and what the clients, clients want. Our role is to find and discover the connection and build the desire. People long for possessions, fame, travel, money, power, the greater good, serving others, What drives you to want, what do you crave? Do you want something you thought you could never have? Our society needs the next fix, fad or rush to appeal to an audience that has been trained to ask for one. 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tantalus

glorify great design An unused wine bottle design by Swedish designer Philippe Bordonado. “The idea was to design something that would stick out, have a “safari” feel/identity, and that you would recognise even from a far. The part we make out as dark on the painted bottle is the red wine. So there is only a white coat on the bottle.”

When driving in Vegas at the intersection of 215 and I-15 heading West on I-215 and North on I-15 very briefly one can see this billboard. The View is stunning. The Design is pathetic. Not only does it not state where this is (The Stratosphere) but a driver would have to be in bumper to bumper traffic just to read and then process this pathetic Billboard. I would hate to be the creative director on this project. Merely because they failed to execute what could have been a brilliant piece of design. - Next time have the chefs holding food, second place text to read: FLAVOR THE TOP OF THE STRATOSPHERE. ™ On another note if you use that statement you will grant my company dining credit. for one meal per month for one year. Best. M3 email us your design peeve at paper@m3ad.com.

CARLOS CASTANEDA
Sorcerers say that we are inside a bubble. It is a bubble into which we are placed at the moment of our birth. At First the bubble is open, but then it begins to close until it has sealed us in. Carlo Castanedas work was very influential on many creative artists, one of them a modest boy from the town of Modesto, CA that loved fast cars, cruisin & film-making He introduced us to a legacy thru film, his imagination: Star Wars, the film-student...George Lucas.
That bubble is our perception. We live inside that bubble all of our lives. And what we witness on its round walls is our own reflection.
