STRATEGY:
2019-2020
CHANGES/UPDATES SHARK TANK The Shark Tank Competition will continue, and will hold a $1,000 Chapter Grand Prize. This year, members will be given stamp cards with each participating team. Each member will hear the pithes, and receive a stamp at each station. The member will turn-in their stamp card at the State Officer booth, where they will cast their top vote/favorite pitch. Three to four “secret investors” will listen and cast votes as well, with higher weighted votes. The top three teams will pitch their idea during the opening session, where the Shark Tank Panel will award $1,000 to the winning team. The Mystery Item Will Be Revealed January 21st via social media. TRADING RIBBONS Similar to ICDC Trading Pins, each chapter will be given “Chapter Specific Ribbons” The goal is to trade their ribbons with other members from across the state, and aid in networking efforts. UNDERCLASSMAN ACTIVITY This year, the State Officers will host an exclusive unerclassman social/activity in attempts to increase participation and retention. We feel that this will help increase engagement and provide lasting benefits to the local and statewide program(s). DECA HUB/EXHIBITS The DECA HUB will continue. The conference exhibits will be moved into the DECA HUB area, and additional activities will be added. Based on feedback, this was a positive experience for students. EVENT CHECK-IN/HOLDING AREA Event Check-In and Holding Area will be moved to the Rocky Mountain Foyer. This will be the only activity in this area, and its seclusion will allow for efficient holding and check-in for competitive events, while simultaneously reducing congestion in the convention center hallway.
