Certificate in Project Controls (City & Guilds) Programme Programme Overview This programme, which is delivered in association with The Engineering & Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and leads to a City & Guilds Certificate in Project Control, is a comprehensive programme covering all aspects of project control. The programme utilises an industrial case study so that learners can begin to apply the learning in a structured way as part of the assessment process.

Programme Structure The programme is delivered using a blended approach which includes distance learning via a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), a series of workshops, and on-line tutor support. The programme consists of 8 modules spread over a 9 month period. The programme will require learners to submit project-specific documentation as deliverables for assessment throughout the simulation project which supports the programme. The final outcome of the course will be a Project Execution Plan that contains all of the relevant documentation from the simulation project and addresses the detail of the project such as document control, change control and progress measurements. It is expected that this portfolio will be presented to employers at the end of the programme.

“The project controls course is tailored with nine modules which cover Planning, Estimating and Cost, with online access to comprehensive course materials via a Virtual Learning Environment. Apart from the individual assignments for the following months class, this programme involves group work (a life cycle project), which extends the fact of interaction among participants outside the full day sessions. I would say this is the best part of the course, as you interact with other project controls personnel within the industry. As well as sharing knowledge and best practises, you would get to know other Project controls process & procedures within the industry”
