From The Artistic Director We’re building our season around the word “big” because the word “largesse” seemed a little too fancy. You see, the grandeur of the work ahead is matched by the playwrights’ generosity, the gift of thoughtful wonder that each of them brings to our theatres. “Puts us directly inside the consciousness of the men in battle for their sanity” – The Times Herald Into a world of medicated insanity, McMurphy – part saviour, part con man – introduces individuality. Confronting the institutional tyranny of Nurse Ratched, he convinces the other patients to question the status quo. Will the threat of permanent incapacitation rule the day or will McMurphy and his friends win their fight for justice? This funny yet terrifying story of rebellion and courage in the face of conformity is as relevant today as it was when the revolutionary novel was published in 1962. “Makes you fall in love with musical theater all over again” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette For decades, audiences have been touched by the story of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, two Second World War veterans-turned-Broadway stars. When talented sisters Betty and Judy Haynes cross paths with the men, Phil and Judy fall in love, Bob and Betty can’t stand each other, and all four performers board a train to Vermont to entertain at a winter inn. The only problem is the lack of snow has caused the tourists to leave in droves. A merry way to celebrate the season, this unforgettable and entertaining musical features the dazzling songs ‘Happy Holidays,’ ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘White Christmas.’ WARNING: Theatrical haze and fog

No one in his family or community will be allowed any contact with him until he repents, forcing his wife to abandon him if not in person, then in spirit. When the spy is killed, Hannay becomes the prime suspect and must run for his life. by

Patrick Marber (MTC Warehouse’s Closer) transplants August Strindberg’s once-scandalous play to the English countryside on the night of the Labour Party’s landslide victory in 1945. As revellers celebrate, Miss Julie engages in a forbidden flirtation with her father’s chauffeur, John. Seduced by her manipulations and driven by his own ambition, John lays bare long-held feelings for the reckless temptress. Their affair escalates into a volatile power struggle that leaves destruction in its wake. MTC presents Patrick Marber’s version of August Strindberg’s play as part of StrindbergFest 2011.
