One such essential feature is the ability to close all open positions simultaneously

This article will guide you through the process of closing all positions in MetaTrader, ensuring you can efficiently manage your trades and mitigate risks.

Why Close All Positions?

Closing all open trades is a common practice for many traders in certain situations

In this article you can see 6 reasons why you want to close all positions.

And in this article we talk a bit more about Closing Positions in Metatrader.

Closing All Positions in MetaTrader 4 (MT4)

Bad News MT4 does not have a built-in feature to close all positions with a single click

In Metatrader 4 you would need to click on each order separately and close, or delete them, individually.

Yes I agree, it is quite a pain and it can take some time

Luckily, MT4 allows the to add scripts and tools to the platform and there are solutions.

The MQL5 Marketplace has many plugins available

However, I have built my own tool to do that and you can find it in this page.

Closing All Positions in MetaTrader 5 (MT5)

MT5 has some more advanced features for closing multiple position at once.

To close all positions in Metatrader 5 follow these steps:

1 Open the “Toolbox” window by clicking on the “View” menu and selecting “Toolbox” or pressing Ctrl+T.

2. In the “Toolbox” window, click on the “Trade” tab to view all your open positions.

3 Right-click on any open position in the list, and a context menu will appear.

4. In the context menu, select “Close All Positions.” This action will close all open positions in your trading account

Despite the feature being useful I still find that it is lacking some features.

In particular there is not enough filters that you can apply to close only specific positions

The free Close All Trades for MT5 has many filters to allow you to choose which positions to close.

Conclusion

While MT4 doesn’t have a feature to close positions at the same time, MT5 has some more options

To allow more filtering and control I developed a FREE tool that can be used to Close all Positions in Metatrader.

Feel free to try the tool here
