At MSUB, our mission is centered on breaking down barriers and helping students succeed. Our students will always be at the core of everything we do. Thanks to the commitment of our dedicated faculty, staff, board members, and community partners, we’ve made a lasting difference in their lives.
Reflecting on the past year, we’re incredibly proud of the accomplishments made possible by your generosity. Donor support has had a powerful impact on MSUB students, as highlighted in the following report.
There’s a lot to celebrate at MSUB. In the 2024 fiscal year, MSUB Foundation & Alumni raised over $3.9 million directly supporting our students and enriching their college experience. We awarded 307 Yellowjacket Excellence Scholarships, easing financial obstacles for students on their path to a degree. Fall student data showed that over 60% of Yellowjackets hail from Yellowstone County, and retention rates for nontraditional and transfer students have reached their highest levels since 2013. Across Montana, flexible learning options have made education more accessible, with nearly 30% of our students enrolled fully online or in Hyflex courses. These achievements underscore the commitment to delivering education that aligns with our students’ diverse needs.
As we celebrate these milestones, we know this success is shared. It’s a testament to you—our dedicated supporters—whose volunteerism, generosity, and personal connection to MSUB are essential to advancing our mission. Together, we help students realize their hopes and dreams.
On behalf of the entire MSUB community, especially our students, thank you for your continued support. Your involvement is helping shape the future of our community, our state, and our region.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
As we approach the 100th birthday of Montana State University Billings, it is essential that while we look forward and get ready to celebrate the next 100 years of Billings’ Public University, we also must look back and cherish its history.
From 1928 until 1972
“The Rimrock” chronicled life on (at that time) Eastern Montana College’s campus, and now it will once again tell the campus’s story. However, it will tell the story to the larger Billings Community and Yellowjacket Nation everywhere.

2. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.
3. To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
4. To be assured gifts will be used for the purposes for which they are given.
5. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
6. To be assured that information about their donations are handled with respect and confidentiality to the extent provided by the law.
7. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
8. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization, or hired solicitors.
9. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from the mailing lists and organization may intend to share.
10. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.

In August of this year, we hosted an MSUB Alumni Employee BBQ, bringing together our community of over 100 MSUB alumni who are also current employees of the university. It was a great opportunity to foster engagement and celebrate the strong ties between MSUB and its dedicated staff members who continue to contribute to the success of the institution.
We also held a successful alumni happy hour at Meadowlark Brewery in September, where fellow graduates reconnected and networked. With approximately 13,000 MSUB alumni living in Yellowstone County, this event was a fantastic chance to build connections and strengthen the local alumni community.
As we continue to celebrate the MSUB alumni family, we encourage you to stay engaged! Whether through attending future events, volunteering, or supporting the university in other ways, your involvement helps strengthen the vibrant MSUB community. Let’s continue building these meaningful connections together!
