Destination Learn Your Summer Learning Itinerary from the EDC

Destination Learn Summer Days for Professional Development Tuesday professional development days will provide 1 hour trainings that will be primarily staff focused. However, faculty are welcome.

Each training topic will be offered twice on different dates and at different times of the day.

Wednesday professional development days will be faculty focused with application to the classroom. We will typically offer a morning session and afternoon session of related content or content in the morning and personal project work time in the afternoon. You may choose to come just for the morning or just for the afternoon, or both.

Staff are also welcome at these trainings.

Locations of Trainings All trainings will be offered in the Employee Development Center on the Wisconsin Rapids campus.

Trainings with an asterisk will be offered via Blackboard Collaborate. Just go to bit.ly/EDCTraining to join the session. You must register even if you are joining from off campus.

If you are staff at another campus, you can request personal training from the EDC for the sessions that you cannot attend on location or via Collaborate.

To Register for Trainings Simply click on the hyperlinked title to each the session you want to register for, or click on the link in the calendar on the last page. Once you are in Eventbrite, you will need to click on select date and choose the date of the training you want, then click the register button.

Day 1: (May 24) Basic Training - for first time Blackboard users or those who need a refresher. Afternoon work time to work on projects Day 2: (May 25) Advanced Tactics - learn more advanced skills and tools. Afternoon work time to work on projects.

Day 3: (May 26) In the Field - work on your own with support from the EDC staff.

Day 1: (May 17) The Basics - learn the why’s and how’s of cource construction by creating competencies, performance standards, objectives, learning plans, and PATs. Day 2 & 3: (May 18 & 19) Personal work time with the support of the EDC staff.

*Hidden Gems in Office 365 Office 365 is an online (cloud) based version of Office, but it is also installed on your computer. Because of the cloud-based features, there are some fun collaborative, organizational, and storage tools available. We will review some that will help you get the most from your Office 365 experience.

Color Your World with Video & Screencasting Video doesn’t have to be difficult and it is the way we learn to do tasks in our current culture.

Explore tools like Screencastomatic, Animoto, YouTube, Brainshark, and Adobe Premier to make video creation fun and easy. Special Bonus: Learn to create and edit video and screencasts on an iPad. (Worktime provided in the afternoon.)

Never a Dull Moment: Active Learning Strategies for the Classroom or Presentations Bring your students or audience to life by getting them involved in the learning process. We will cover creative ways to get the participants engaged, keep them engaged, and send them out with the new material in their long term memory.

Find creative ways to infuse Web 2.0 tools into your teaching. We will explore a wide variety of tools as well as share round table style the tools that you have used.

Apps for your phone or tablet can be fun or productive. Join the EDC staff and your colleagues for a time to share apps, our favorites and yours.

*A Picture 1000 Different Ways: Photoshop in Action Learn to manipulate your photos in creative ways using Photoshop. Starting with a single photo we will manipulate, recolor, remove backgrounds, and more. Manipulated photos can then be used in PowerPoint, InDesign, Word, Blackboard, and more.

Technology can overwhelm us at times, but it can also help us organize our lives and help us harness our free time. Come learn about some popular online productivity tools that will help you reclaim some of your day.

Go beyond the basics of Excel and learn some tips and tricks to make your life easier.

Explore some bells and whistles in PowerPoint and learn some design tricks to make PowerPoint more engaging. We will also look at using Brainshark to make your PowerPoint interactive. Work time will be provided to begin updating some of your PowerPoints.

Improve your Google search skills with online Power Searching and Advanced Power Searching courses. Learn the tricks to become a fast and effective fact-finder. These courses are online and self-paced. The first session is to get signed up and get rolling.

Online Learning Options and FQAS FQAS Courses MSTC FQAS courses are self-enroll and selfpaced. All work in a single learning plan must be completed before the next learning plan opens.

Interactive learning activities are scaffolded to build an understanding and application of the concepts. When all learning plans in a course are completed, a course certificate will be generated for your records.
