MIAA Competitiveness • 10 MIAA Student-Athletes of the week • Two National Athletes of the Week • Men’s Cross Country won the MIAA Championship (second consecutive year) • Men’s Cross Country won the NCAA Central Regional Championship (second consecutive year) • Jamie Burnham was named the NCAA Central Regional Coach of the year • Jamie Burnham was named the MIAA Coach of the year • Gideon Kimuati was named the NCAA Central Region Athlete of the year

Athletic Department GPA’s 532 Student-Athletes with an overall GPA of 3.08 Softball has the highest team GPA with a 3.527
Lions Volunteering in the Community Yearly the athletic department; predominately the student athletes complete over 5,500 hours of community engagement in the local communities. Examples: • Lions visited Foxberry Terrace Senior Living Center for singing and decorating cookies • Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat provided more than 6,000 canned goods for Souls Harbor which filled their pantries until March • Baseball worked with Special Olympic Bowling • Men’s Basketball has been reading at schools • Softball has been volunteering at several schools and churches
Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Our SAAC organization is the student-athlete leadership group selected from each of the sports. They serve as the student leaders who work with athletic administration to best service the needs of the S-A’s. Some additional activities they have taken on this year are: • Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat • Miracle Minute (Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser during home basketball has generated over $1000 to date) • S-A Talent Show ($550 generated for Make-A-Wish)

The MSSU Behavioral Intervention Team has transitioned into MOSO Cares. The purpose of the MOSO Cares Team is to be proactive in identifying and assisting those who are distressed and/or exhibiting disruptive or dangerous behaviors. Our goal is to come alongside individuals in need of support, guidance, or other intervention and connect them with the resources they need to be successful and hopefully reduce their risk of crisis.
