The Missouri Southern campus is located in Joplin, MO. – Missouri’s fourth-largest metropolitan area, with a community of more than 50,000 people and a service area of 400,000. The city is a major medical and transportation hub, and there’s plenty to explore beyond the borders of campus: •

Visit downtown Main Street each month for the First Thursday ArtWalk, and the Third Thursday culture fair.

Attend concerts, enjoy live theater, films and the city’s thriving arts community.

When you’re not cheering on the Lions, check out semi-pro games with Joplin Demize Soccer, Joplin Crusaders Football and the Joplin Outlaws Baseball.

The city maintains 22 parks and greenways, with more than 933 acres of park land and walking, hiking and biking trails.

Joplin is also a great place to live if you love the outdoors. We’re close to Missouri’s famous Ozark Mountains, as well as numerous rivers, lakes, parks and hiking trails that offer a wealth of nature’s beauty for you to enjoy.

And Joplin is located only two hours or less from cities such as Kansas City, Tulsa, Springfield, Fayetteville, and Branson – offering endless day-trip opportunities.

Joplin is a city that values its residents and has worked hard to forge a sense of community. MSSU is proud to call Joplin its home.

“MSSU is the best school I have attended in terms of support and relationships with professors, administrators, and instructors as an undergraduate. In med school, I was better prepared than grads from many ivy league schools not just in biological/scientific subject matter, but in a rounded liberal arts education. I sincerely feel like my education from MSSU and the developmental experience there was outstanding in comparison to my peers.“ Benjamin Leavens MSSU Biology Alum
