nowmobilers are caring neighbors — we volunteer countless hours to make sure the expansive trail systems across the snowbelt are clear, signed, safe and groomed every season, but snowmobilers also raise over $3 million annually for charities of all types. If you are looking to get involved somehow, here are five premier Midwest events you’ll surely enjoy on your way to giving back. Thank you volunteers and fundraisers for all you do!
Pink Ribbon Riders

The Pink Ribbon Riders Snow Run Tour is comprised of three events in the states of New York, Michigan and Wyoming. Money raised from the events help provide financial assistance to both men and women diagnosed with breast cancer in gifts of $500. The events are open to men and women and include; a Bra Scavenger hunt that can be done by car, truck or snowmobile! An awards dinner banquet follows the hunt recognizing a top fundraiser and the overall prize winner for the scavenger hunt. WISCONSIN MILITARY RIDE – JANUARY 15, 2023

The military appreciation ride at the famed Derby Complex in Eagle River, Wisconsin is a family snowmobiling event designed to thank Veterans for their service and grow the sport of snowmobiling by introducing them to a winter sport that’s safe and fun for the whole family. Veterans are educated about Wisconsin’s 600 snowmobile clubs and the great camaraderie enjoyed by thousands of club members who volunteer their time to create and maintain over 22,000 miles of public snowmobile trails in Wisconsin. Everyone is encouraged to join and Midwest Rider hopes you’ll consider being part of this premier event!
THE NORTHLAND 300 – JANUARY 25, 2023 SPECIALOLYMPICSMINNESOTA.ORG
The Northland 300 is a 300 mile, three day, charity snowmobile ride made up of volunteer participants who raise funds to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Many friendships are built from the event that continue to grow each year as do the camaraderie of the participants, spectators and communities along the course. The 2023 event will be held in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in January and is made possible by sponsors and partners, so all funds go directly to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Rider donations are achieved through sponsorships, raffle ticket sales, and company and general donations.
BLACK WOODS BLIZZARD TOUR – FEBRUARY 8, 2023 NEVERSURRENDERINC.ORG

Proceeds from the Black Woods Blizzard Tour benefit individuals living with ALS and their families. Participants must donate a minimum amount of money and gather at the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota and depart on a three day overnight snowmobile ride stopping at Fortune Bay Resort Casino on the way to Timberlake Lodge in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and then back to Carlton. Never Surrender Inc. has donated over $1 million in the Fight Against ALS.

SNOWBALL CANCER 2023 – FEBRUARY 9 & 16, 2023

The Keller Family Community Foundation has planned the Snowball Cancer Challenge events to raise awareness and money for cancer. One of these events, The Valentine 500, has allowed volunteer snowmobilers to raise money and ride with Nick Keller, who is considered Michigan’s “Mileage Man,” during his attempt to ride 500+ miles in one day. The Snowball Cancer website is secure, and conveniently allows people to donate money, or the option to mail checks directly to the foundation. Follow Nick this winter!
