In addition to classes at MSOE’s downtown campus, business and management classes are offered in Waukesha and Fox Valley. The bachelor’s in business management and the master’s in engineering management degrees can be completed in the Fox Valley.

Undergraduate Degrees For those with an associate degree or other college credit, MSOE provides a convenient way to complete a bachelor’s degree*. MSOE values your prior academic accomplishments and most students with an associate degree are granted junior standing. You can complete any of these degrees through evening classes. In some cases, you will be able to take weekend and online classes. When applying for these degrees, your college transcripts are evaluated and you will be given credit for courses taken at a technical college or other institution. You will be provided with a curriculum track to follow for graduation in as little time as possible.
Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSBM) The business management degree combines business with technology – how to use it and how to manage it in business settings. You will learn management fundamentals and develop skills to use technology to create management solutions and new business models. It is an especially attractive option for those considering a career change, or who have found their career path limited by the lack of a formal degree in a business-related field. Those studying full-time can complete the degree in two years by attending classes two nights per week and an occasional Saturday. Some classes are offered that combine Internet instruction with classroom interaction. You can select a major area of study that includes: • • • •

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) This degree is designed for those who seek a bachelor of science degree with an electrical and electronics emphasis. It appeals to those who learn best by experiencing what they are learning, who prefer the use of specific examples to help them learn general concepts and who favor physical concepts to clarify mathematics. Graduates with this degree may develop and design products and components, function as productive members of engineering teams, work with applications of components and systems, engage in field service or technical sales, and be involved with the manufacturing, testing or quality assurance of products. MSOE has agreements with several two-year colleges in Wisconsin and Illinois that grant students junior standing when enrolling at MSOE.

Undergraduate Degrees
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) MSOE is the only university in the state where you can earn an engineering degree entirely through evening courses. It presents a unique opportunity, especially for those with no previous engineering course work, for individuals to enhance their knowledge and professional qualifications with an engineering degree. Those with previous education, such as earned credits in a non-engineering bachelor’s degree program or an associate degree in a pre-engineering or technology program, will find it a simple way to complete an engineering degree at MSOE.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) MSOE's MET program places a strong emphasis on design, applications and hands-on laboratory experimentation. The degree prepares graduates for greater responsibility in the areas of product development, manufacturing and related fields. It is designed to accommodate transfer students, especially those with associate degrees in mechanical design and related fields. The program is offered in the evenings only, and is designed for working, part-time students.

The MIS degree appeals to those with a CIS or IT associate degree from a technical college. Those with an MIS degree are in high demand as computer systems analysts, network administrators, e-business developers, IT project managers and software developers, to name just a few opportunities. For those who work full time, we offer a two-year track that involves attending classes two nights per week and an occasional Saturday.

Master of Science in Construction and Business Management (MSCBM)
With this degree professionals in the construction industry will develop the leadership skills necessary to compete in the ever-changing and highly competitive construction management environment. It provides students with advanced tools and understanding in construction project administration and business management. Courses are focused on business development, new and emerging technologies for construction and project delivery systems, and executive administration of construction firms. The degree prepares graduates for uppermanagement positions in the construction industry.

Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) This degree enables engineering professionals to further their problem-solving skills through the application of advanced engineering principles and methods. The strength of this program is its flexibility. Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM)
This is the MBA for engineers. It is a technology-oriented management degree designed to meet the needs of engineers, business managers and other professional and technical personnel desiring to strengthen their management and leadership skills. It enables those with an engineering or technical degree to gain the knowledge
necessary for career advancement into leadership positions. It is for professionals who find themselves at the intersection of management and technology. The curriculum combines technology with managerial decision-making skills. Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (MSEV) This degree was developed and tailored to the student who already has a bachelor of science degree in one of the traditional engineering disciplines such as architectural, chemical, civil or mechanical, but who has had limited training in environmental engineering. The MSEV degree provides students with instruction in both environmental systems design and environmental management principles. Students graduate with the skills necessary to launch successful careers as engineers and managers in either the public or private sector.

This is a technology-oriented leadership program designed to meet the needs of engineers, business managers and other professional and technical persons desiring to strengthen their management and leadership skills specifically relating to the valueadded exporting of U.S. manufactured products, services and technology. Graduates of the program possess the broad range of knowledge and skills necessary for management or entrepreneurial positions in a wide range of international markets.
This degree provides students with a framework to enhance an organization’s ability to identify, develop and deploy new products and services. Students learn how to effectively apply tools and techniques to identify the products and/or services that leverage the unique strengths and position of an organization, including brand identity, reputation, capabilities (current and needed), market opportunities and resources. Individuals are prepared to identify and capitalize on both domestic and international markets.

Master of Science in Medical Informatics (MSMI) This joint degree combines the medical research and education of the Medical College of Wisconsin and MSOE’s business and information technology expertise. It prepares professionals to participate in and lead multidisciplinary teams in the development, implementation and management of information technology solutions in health care. Medical informatics is the applied science at the junction of the disciplines of medicine, business and information technology, which supports the health care delivery process and promotes measurable improvements in both quality of care and cost-effectiveness. Graduates are prepared to work on teams that develop, implement and manage information systems that can support health care delivery, medical research and education.
Master of Science in Structural Engineering (MSST) This degree emphasizes building structural design and analysis and meets the needs of architectural, civil or structural engineers who desire increased knowledge to design modern building structural systems. It focuses on structural design topics such as advanced design of structural steel members and systems, design of light gage metal members and structures, reinforced concrete members and structures and more. Those interested in this degree should have completed an undergraduate curriculum that included mechanics of materials, indeterminate structural analysis, basic structural steel design, basic reinforced concrete design and soil mechanics.

Master of Science in Cardiovascular Studies (MSCS) This degree is ideal for engineers seeking a greater background in the medical sciences, individuals with science degrees who are interested in learning more about instrumentation, modeling and research, or perfusionists who want to expand their education but do not need the clinical experience of the MS in Perfusion program. It is designed to complement students’ undergraduate education by providing an opportunity to expand their knowledge in the areas of cardiovascular health sciences, physiologic modeling and research methods.

Master of Science in Perfusion (MSP) This degree provides a quality didactic and clinical education for those who want to become perfusionists. The clinical perfusionist is involved in cardiopulmonary bypass, patient monitoring, blood conservation (cell salvage, modified ultrafiltration and plasmapharesis), intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP), ventricular assist devices (VAD), total artificial heart placement (TAH), selection of equipment and biomaterials, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), etc. Advances in biomedical technology have greatly broadened the scope of responsibilities of perfusionists.

Professional Development Programs In addition to academic degrees, MSOE’s Center for Working Professionals and Graduate Studies offers specialized programs that allow individuals to gain critical skills within specific disciplines.
Seminars and Workshops Working adults have the opportunity to attend seminars and workshops to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies, current applications and techniques. Formats range from two-hour seminars to five-day symposiums and workshops. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded to attendees. Participants must satisfy any prerequisite requirements.
Certificates Certificate-level training is conducted to provide a rapid means to transfer knowledge. Participants are tested upon completion of the certificate program to demonstrate an understanding of the material. Some certificates are eligible for academic credit. With others, CEUs are awarded to participants. Certifications Certifications go beyond transferring knowledge. Participants are required to pass the required certification tests, thus displaying a mastery of the knowledge and skills they have learned. Participants are evaluated on their ability to successfully demonstrate the use of their knowledge. Some certifications may be eligible for academic credit. With others, CEUs are awarded to participants. Undergraduate Admission Requirements Students wishing to attend MSOE on a part-time basis may do so by completing the following steps: 1. Complete the free online application at www.msoe.edu/apply. Go to Working Professional Applications, Undergraduate Application. 2. Mail the appropriate transcript(s): • Students who have earned 24 semester or 36 quarter college credits should have their official college transcript(s) sent from each college they previously attended. • Students who have completed fewer than 24 semester or 36 quarter credits should have their official college transcript(s) sent from each college they previously attended, in addition to their high school transcript (and G.E.D. test scores if applicable). • Students with no previous college experience should have their official high school transcripts (and G.E.D. test scores, if applicable) sent.

Admission Status Undergraduate students may take classes under the following admission status to help ensure they can easily start their individual educational plan: Full acceptance: Students are admitted directly into their program of study. Probationary acceptance: Students are admitted directly into their program of study but must satisfy additional requirements. Non-matriculated status: Students have not been accepted to an academic program but may take up to three courses (nine credits) for one quarter. At the end of the quarter the student must have earned a grade point average of 2.50 and have satisfied all admission requirements to be considered for full acceptance. Non-degree status: Students have not been admitted to a program of study(s) but may complete up to 30 credits in their area of interest. Non-degree students must demonstrate that they have met prerequisites for the courses.
Please note that for a transcript to be “official” it must be mailed to MSOE directly from the issuing educational institution.
The Registration Process 1. As a new student, you are encouraged to register in person. This first-time registration will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. During registration, you will receive academic counseling, assistance in scheduling course work, a parking permit, your student I.D. card and a campus tour. In future quarters, you may register online. 2. As a new student, $175 is due upon registration and may be paid with cash, check, MasterCard or VISA. A letter of authorization for company invoicing also is acceptable. In future quarters, you may register without payment if no prior balance remains on your account.

Recommended course work includes biochemistry, math, physics, and statistics. 3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percent or better. 4) Two letters of recommendation.
Construction and Business Management (MSCBM) (Available Fall ) 1) A bachelor of science degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, etc.). 2) Full-time work experience in construction or a related industry. At least two years is expected. This requirement will be waived for applicants who will be working full-time in such a position while enrolled in the program. 3) Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, and a personal computer (laptop recommended) with Internet access. 4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of the letters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager. 5) Test scores from the GRE if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA was below 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scores must be submitted prior to regular acceptance into the program. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicate potential in the program. 6) Completion of an advisory briefing with the first year of enrollment is highly recommended. The briefing may be completed in either a group session or individual conference, either by phone or in person, with a faculty advisor.
Engineering (MSE) 1) A bachelor of science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related area. 2) Specific course requirements include one year of calculus, two courses in physics, and one course in each of the following: structured programming, differential equations and chemistry. Additionally, one course in each of the following engineering topics is required: mechanics, thermodynamics, circuit analysis, and systems analysis. It is expected that the applicant has earned a letter grade of “C” or better in each of these required undergraduate courses. 3) Test scores from the GRE general test if an applicant’s undergraduate GPA is less than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicate potential for success in the MSE program, including scores from the “quantitative” test section that are in the upper 50 percentile of those tested. 4) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant is required to speak with the MSE program director, either by phone or in person, to plan a course of study. 5) Two letters of recommendation.
Engineering Management (MSEM) Marketing and Export Management (MSXM) New Product Management (MSNP) 1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field. 2) At least three years of professional, full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for applicants who will be working full-time in such a position while enrolled in the program. 3) Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, and a personal computer (laptop recommended) with a modem and private Internet access. 4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of the letters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager. 5) Test scores from the GMAT or GRE if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA was below 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scores must be submitted prior to regular acceptance into the program. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicate potential for success in the program. 6) Completion of an advisory briefing within the first year of enrollment is highly recommended. The briefing may be completed in either a group session or individual conference, either by phone or in person, with the program director.
Environmental Engineering (MSEV) 1) A bachelor of science degree in architectural, chemical, civil or mechanical engineering, or a closely related area. 2) Specific course requirements include one year of calculus, one year of physics, two courses in chemistry, and one course in each of the following: statics, statistics, differential equations, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. A “C” or better must have been earned in each of these required courses. Most students entering the program who hold a bachelor of science degree in a traditional engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution are expected to have the required undergraduate courses. Students who hold an engineering degree but lack some of these courses, or students who hold other technical degrees, may need to complete deficiencies in undergraduate course work in order to meet all the admission requirements. These students may be permitted to begin course work on a conditional basis, and are generally expected to complete all such requirements within one year. Such admission decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. 3) Test scores from the GRE general test if an applicant’s undergraduate GPA is less than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scores must be submitted prior to regular acceptance into the MSEV program. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicate potential for success in the MSEV program. 4) Two letters of recommendation. 5) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant is required to meet with the MSEV program director, either by phone or in person, to plan a course of study.
Graduate Admission Requirements Medical Informatics (MSMI)*
Structural Engineering (MSST)
1) Minimum undergraduate degree GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). 2) GRE or GMAT general test scores having percentiles that average 60 percent or better, or a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) average of nine on the individual scores. (This requirement is waived for individuals with a graduate degree.) 3) Transcripts should show proof of undergraduate course work in college algebra, introduction to statistics, introduction to computers, computer programming and medical terminology. 4) If your native language is not English, a score of 100 or higher on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL) with Speaking is required. 5) Three letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of the letters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager. 6) A personal essay stating why the applicant wishes to pursue this degree. 7) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant is required to speak with the MSMI program director, either by phone or in person, to plan a course of study.

*Please note that applications are evaluated in their entirety. If applicants are deficient in one or more areas, they still are encouraged to apply and we may be able to recommend ways to complete the prerequisites and requirements.
Perfusion (MSP) Academic Requirements: 1) Applicants must have earned a bachelor of science degree in an appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology, biomedical sciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale). 2) At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy and physiology) is required. Recommended course work includes biochemistry, math, physics, and statistics. 3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percent or better. 4) Three letters of recommendation, two of which should be from faculty who can judge the applicant’s academic abilities. The third may be from a faculty member or a supervisor/employer who can speak to the applicant’s professionalism, ability to work on a team, be responsible, etc. Clinical Requirements: 1) Applicant must have observed at least two clinical cases under the direction of a certified clinical perfusionist prior to formal acceptance into the program. If applicants cannot schedule case viewings locally, these can be done at our facilities if the applicant is invited for an interview. 2) Successful completion of a personal interview.

Financing Your Education It is important to remember that all part-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for some sort of federal financial assistance. Federal and State Financial Aid Eligibility A student must be enrolled in a minimum of six undergraduate or three graduate credits per term in a degreeseeking program to be eligible to apply for federal and state aid.
How to Apply for Financial Aid at MSOE ✦ Admission - Be accepted for admission to MSOE. Your formal admission is used to evaluate your eligibility for aid. ✦ FAFSA - Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may receive this form by contacting the MSOE Student Financial Aid Office or by applying via the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. When applying online, use MSOE’s FAFSA number 003868. Your award offer determined by MSOE’s Student Financial Aid Office will be mailed to you and will list all aid you have been awarded for the upcoming academic year.

MSOE Payment Options* MSOE offers a variety of payment options to students. You may choose a different payment option on a term basis based on your financial situation. For detailed payment plan information, please call the Student Financial Aid Office. Payment in Full Students are billed at the beginning of each term for the full amount due for the term by the due date listed on the bill.
Financial Aid Students who have been awarded financial aid will generally have their aid automatically applied to their tuition account. Any balance not covered by financial aid is either due by the third Monday of the term or can be divided into monthly payments using the H.E.L.P. plan. H.E.L.P. Payment Plan MSOE’s new in-house payment plan, H.E.L.P. (Helping Everyone Learn and Pay) offers students monthly payment plans for amounts due. The student determines how much of their balance they wish to divide into monthly payments. Any amount not covered by H.E.L.P. will be due when billed. Tuition Reimbursement Students who have employer reimbursement may defer tuition payments 30 days after a term’s grades are posted pending reimbursement from their employers. Students will need to provide documentation proving reimbursement eligibility. Direct Bill to Employers Students who work for a company or organization that will pay their tuition at the beginning of the term may wish to use this option. Students will need to provide documentation authorizing MSOE to bill their employer.
Questions and Answers Q. What will happen if my account is past due? A. Late fees of not more than one percent per month on the total unpaid charge will accrue until your account is current. In addition, you will not be allowed to register for future terms. Q. If I am receiving financial aid (or other funds) that is in excess of tuition/fees, will I receive a refund? A. Yes. Refunds are processed after all tuition, fee, room and board and other charges are paid. Your refund will be processed within 10 days of posting a credit balance. Refund checks are automatically mailed to the local address you have on record with the Registrar’s Office. Q. What will happen if I withdraw from the university? A. Withdrawing from MSOE, as well as dropping classes, can have an adverse effect on your financial aid as well as your balance due. Visit www.msoe.edu/finaid for detailed information.
