together,

Our students are determined to tackle the complex challenges of today and tomorrow, and we’re right there with them. Whether it’s the faculty shaping minds in the classroom or the staff members influencing their campus experience and community connections, we all play integral roles in a well-oiled machine moving full speed ahead.

Our work here at MSOE shows what we’re made of. We’re a team of scholars, creatives, leaders and supporters with one common goal: to move our university forward toward excellence.

for MSOE together,

Dear Colleagues,

We hope this message finds you well. Your dedication to fostering an inclusive community of experiential learners at MSOE has not gone unnoticed. You have shown unwavering dedication to our university, focusing on ensuring a smooth transition to semesters all while crafting a friendly and inviting atmosphere for our students to learn and grow. This year, the collaborative efforts of both faculty and staff have truly exemplified a united commitment to MSOE’s success.

Our Faculty and Staff Campaign is centered on participation and emphasizes that every contribution, regardless of the amount, makes a significant impact. Your collective support not only aligns with our mission but also showcases our commitment to excellence. Through your participation, you not only enhance resources for students but also demonstrate the unity and strength of our community.

We are proud to share that last year, MSOE surpassed our goal of 50% participation with 54% of faculty and staff contributing. These funds were directed toward student organizations, scholarships, athletics and academic departments. As we embark on our fourth annual campaign running from April 1 through MSOE’s Giving Day on April 18, we invite each of you to consider a philanthropic gift supporting an area on campus of your choice. Your ambassador can provide further details.

Every gift, regardless of size, plays a role in helping us achieve our goal of 54% participation again this year. Will you help us continue the MSOE tradition of being extraordinary together?

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to MSOE and for making a difference in the lives of our students.

Warm regards,

Electrical

Dollars-Raised – cash that comes into the university.

Restricted funds - designated for specific purposes, such as WMSE, Grohmann Museum, Capital, etc.

Unrestricted funds or “Fund for MSOE” - are allocated to areas with the highest need on campus.

Highlights of impact

ATHLETICS: MEN’S SOCCER Men’s soccer scored big during the 2023 Faculty and Staff Campaign, raising $1,125. With those funds, the team installed a game-changing camera system on Viets Field. This upgrade enables outdoor teams to videotape practices and provides coaches with a panoramic view of the entire field.

ACADEMICS: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER

SCIENCE DEPARTMENT EECS raised $6,250 last year. A portion of these funds were used to purchase high-value equipment (Vector Network Analyzers) for the antennas laboratory. This provides our students with hands-on experience in highfrequency circuits using equipment that is rarely available to undergraduates.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: HUMANITARIAN ENGINEERING CLUB Thanks to generous donors, HEC raised $9,540. This has been pivotal in supporting impactful projects, including reinforcing supports near the Alconá vehicular bridge’s wingwalls and funding surveys for the ongoing water distribution system initiative at Churunel Central. Currently, students are in the final stages of designing the system and are gearing up for an immersive summer, ready to actively participate in its hands-on implementation.

Why I Give

“MSOE has given me a great opportunity to teach future leaders in the construction industry, and I feel honored to support the program financially.”

For the last 38 years, Mark Rounds has dedicated his career to working as a general contractor. Because of that passion, he wanted to share his experiences with the next generation of builders and started his journey at MSOE in 2018 as an assistant professor and recently became the construction management program director.

Teaching students and being a part of the MSOE community have helped elevate Mark’s passion for the institution. He says the faculty and staff prioritize students, creating a culture that resonates and aligns seamlessly with the MSOE Mindset. He sees it as a privilege to play a role in bolstering the university’s robust construction management program. “MSOE is focused on developing and preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century. This is a mission I fully support.”

Rounds

“ Every day I see the impact that giving to students and the groups they are a part of has on the holistic development of future leaders. This meaningful investment allows student groups to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities and programs that enrich the overall college experience and community on campus.”

FAQs

Q: What is MSOE’s Giving Day?

A: Each year, MSOE challenges our alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends to come together to support the university and the students we serve during our annual Giving Day. For 24 hours we rally support for numerous areas of our campus

Q: Do I have to give a certain amount to be counted?

A: Any gift, no matter the size, is a point of pride and will have an immediate effect on our campus. The more people who choose to give, the greater the collective impact of their gifts.

Q: I would love to donate to a specific fund, where can I find that?

A: There is a list of the funds on the Giving Day website. Student organizations with gift funds are all listed this year. If the fund you want to donate to is not on the dropdown list, you may write it in the “other” box, and we will distribute it accordingly.

Q: Can my gift be anonymous?

A: Yes. If you decide to make a gift, there is an option to remain anonymous. If this option is selected, your name will not be published in any recognition materials, but your donation will still be counted in the overall campaign totals and your department’s totals.

Q: What does the term “giving year” refer to, and if I’ve donated during this timeframe, am I considered a participant in the campaign?

A: The giving year is July 1, 2023–June 30, 2024. If you’ve made a charitable gift, one-time or reoccurring, to MSOE during this period, you would be considered a participant in the Faculty and Staff Campaign. Making a gift on Giving Day would further contribute to the campaign and is appreciated.

“Growing up as a Latina of the first generation in my household, going to college has always been a dream of mine. Your generosity is incredibly helpful and allows me to attend MSOE. During my time in college, I have been driven to inspire young people of color that dreams do come true if you put your mind and heart to it. Thank you for your thoughtful and generous support.”
