Dear Red Angus Enthusiasts, We would like to thank you again for your interest in our program. Once again we are offering a large group of age-advantaged bulls in large sire groups.

We are encouraged and humbled by the positive reports coming back from our customers and continue to stand behind our genetics 100%.

This marks the first year we have taken PAP test scores on the bulls and we are very pleased with the results... the whole offering averages only 37 with a range of 34 to 42! Our bulls have worked extremely well in high altitude and we guarantee them anyway.

This year’s offering features sire groups of bulls by 5L Blockade 2218-30B, TJS Road Block D008, 5L Like A Boss, TJS Birthright, TJS Limit Up, PIE Seneca, and our first sons of U-2 Outlier and U-2 Nova.

*When selecting an animal based on a PAP measurement other factors besides those llisted above should be considered such as genetics or pedigree, PAP EPD’s, Systolic/Diastolic pressures, breed and previous illness. *Special consideration should be given to the amount of time the animal was exposed to elevation (>5500 ft) prior to testing. The predictability and repeatability of the PAP measurement improves with longer the exposure to higher elevation (minimum of 4 weeks is required). *This chart is based on animals greater than 10 months of age. Testing older animals (>12 months) results in a higher predictive and repeatability measurement. *Testing of younger animals (<12months) may result in a greater variability to the predictive and repeatability measurement.

Definitions: *Repeatable or Repeatability percent—this is a term used to give strength to a given PAP score predicting that If a retest PAP was carried out later in life then the score would be close to or within the same category as the original measurement. For example; a PAP measurement taken below 4000 feet only has a 40% repeatable percent meaning that a repeat test only has a 40% chance of staying within the same risk category as the original test. *Predictive Value—this term is closely related to repeatability percent but specifically says that the original score can accurately predict what that animal will retest in a higher elevation. *Risk—Defined as the likelihood of an animal developing pulmonary hypertension themselves or being at risk for having a genetic predisposition for the disease.

Due to our customer base and the altitude they run at, we decided to test all of our bulls for PAP, Pulmonary Arterial Pressure. Our bulls tested very well, scoring from 34 to 42, with 26 bulls scoring at the lowest end of the chart. Please use the information above provided by the ‘PAP Gurus’, Dr. Tim Holt and Dr. Morgan Toye, and as always, we stand behind each and every bull 100%!

Red Angus Guide to EPDS and Indexes ProS ... Profitability and Sustainability is an all-purpose index that predicts average economic differences in all segments in the beef supply chain. This index is a combination of the breeding objectives modeled in the HerdBuilder and GridMaster selection indexes.

In this index, replacement heifers are retained from within the herd and all remaining progeny are fed out to slaughter and sold on a quality-based grid. Traits included in this index include calving ease, growth, HPG, STAY, Mature Weight, Dry Matter Intake and carcass traits. The resulting index is expressed in dollars per head born (Index/High Value).

HB ..... HerdBuilder is a maternal selection index that predicts the economic differences of animals for traits that are important from conception through weaning. Expressed as dollars per head born, HB is calculated based on the scenario that bulls are mated to heifers and cows, replacement heifers are retained and all remaining progeny are marketed at weaning. Traits included in the HB index include Calving Ease Direct, Calving Ease Maternal, Weaning Weight, Milk, Mature Weight, Heifer Pregnancy and Stayability (Index/High Value).

GM..... GridMaster is a selection index that predicts the average economic difference of non-replacement calves through the postweaning phase of production. GM places selection pressure on growth, feedyard performance and carcass traits. Expressed as dollars per head born, GM is calculated based on the scenario that progeny are fed out to slaughter and marketed on a quality-based carcass grid. Traits included in GM include Average Daily Gain, Carcass Weight, Dry Matter Intake, Marbling, Back Fat and Rib Eye Area (Index/High Value).

CED ....... Calving Ease Direct predicts differences in the percent of calves born unassisted out of 2-year-old dams. (Percent/High Value)

BW ........ Birth Weight predicts differences in actual birth weight of progeny.

- With six calf crops under his belt, it seems that the Blockade progeny are still very popular among Red Angus enthusiasts, yet we would be bold enough to say that we have one of his very best sons to date in TJS Barricade H619! This guy is a big-time breeding piece and deserves the attention of the most astute breeders.

- His dam, Pride Y176, earned a spot among our elite ET donor cows with a record of: 108 AWR, 108 AYR and 107 MPPA on her 7 calves. Her progeny include a pair of herdsire prospects that both sold to Lee Red Angus in ID, and last year her PIE Seneca son, TJS Razmataz G001, was the sale standout and sold to Westphal Red Angus in MT, and Brick House Farms in MO. - Wow, here is a bull that should catch your eye! Warrant H246 is a very attractive, trim made bull with exceptional performance and extra muscle shape to go with his good looks.

- His sire, 9 Mile Franchise 6305, has become a household name in the industry as one of the most proven, well used calving ease sires in the breed. If you haven’t used him or found a son to use, you might want to take another look at this scamp.

- His dam, Rac F026, has set the bar pretty high, raising this 111 WR son on her first effort. She is very well bred, combining Blockade and Fusion in her immediate tabulation, and then stemming from a Beckton Warrior daughter out of a Major League sired foundation dam that originated from the Dige’s Double Tree Red Angus program in Great Falls, MT and was purchased at the prestigious Nile Red Angus Sale.

- As we were preparing for the sale and taking pictures of the bulls out in their large pen, we kept gravitating towards the same bull every time they passed... that bull was Primed Up H267. This guy has amazing depth of body and more overall dimension than any bull in the offering.

- He is not unlike his sire, TJS Limit Up C284, a powerful Right Kind son that was featured in our ‘17 sale and sold to Solution Genetics in IA. We were fortunated enough to be able to purchase him back and his progeny have not dissapointed us.

- His dam, Primrose D202, stacks two of our favorite herdsires with Blockade and Berry Cherry, and then she stems back to the great McGee Primrose 6757 cow that was a top donor in our program for many years.

- Happy Trails H060 is definitely a bull that many will have marked. His 711 AWW and 110 WR are just one appealing factor to this stud... this bull just has a herdbull presence about him.

- His sire, TJS Road Block D008, is living up to all of our expectations. He transmits his awesome performance and muscle, as well as his superior libido and we also found out that his sons are all good on their PAP scores.

Percy ‘Bud’ Ray Reed

9/27/1936 ~ 12/1/2021 Bud was a true Cowboy through and through and he was a very respected Cattleman also. We were very greatful to have him as a customer, but more importantly he was a good friend. He was always confident when buying TJS Red Angus bulls and when he couldn’t attend the sale, he would call Tim up and have him buy the best ones. We will dearly miss ole Bud and our prayers and thoughts are with his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean, and the entire family. Rest In Peace Bud Reed.

SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS 1.BIDDING The Auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.

2.TERMS Terms of sale are cash unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with Sale Management prior to sale.

3.PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the Buyer as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the Seller to see that animals are fed and cared for free of charge to Buyer, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichever occurs sooner.

4. HEALTH All animals are eligible for interstate shipment, except as otherwise announced. Interstate health papers will be furnished for each animal requiring tuberculosis and brucellosis tests in accordance with Federal Regulations.

5.ANNOUNCEMENTS Any changes from information of any kind in this catalog will be announced from the auction box and such announcements shall take precedence.

6. DEFAULT In the event the Buyer defaults on payment, the Buyer shall be responsible for all costs, including attorney’s costs, incurred by Sale Management or Seller in connection with collecting, or attempting to collect, payment due.

7. BREEDING GUARANTEE All animals are guaranteed by the seller as outlined in the Red Angus Association of America Code of Ethical Sale Practices.

8. CONTRACT The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a seperate transaction.

9. LIABILITIES All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, the sale manager, and the auction facility assume no liability for accidents that may occur.
