25-26 Manhattan School of Music Performance Calendar
PERFORMANCE SEASON
It is my true privilege and delight to welcome you to Manhattan School of Music’s 2025–26 performance season. With more than 1,000 performances encompassing the full range of MSM’s classical, jazz, and musical theatre programs, this season offers something for everyone. (Be sure to check our website regularly for additional performances and calendar updates.)
As you’ll see within these pages, our nine performance venues – as well as prestigious partner institutions like Dizzy’s Club and Merkin Hall – will house eight thrilling months of live performance: from a series of Jazz Orchestra big-band concerts to fully staged opera and musical theatre productions, including Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore and MSM alumnus Rupert Holmes’
The Mystery of Edwin Drood ; from performances by the School’s prestigious Orchestral Performance Program (led by esteemed conductors David Chan and Leonard Slatkin) and MSM Artists in Residence American String Quartet and Windscape to largescale works from the MSM Symphony Orchestra conducted by, among others, George Manahan (BM ’73, MM ’76), Mei-Ann Chen, and James Dodgson; from faculty and student recitals to a full season of Saturday Precollege Division concerts. And once again this year, we present a busy schedule of open-to-the-public master classes from world-renowned musicians and artists.
Bringing to life performances like the ones listed in this calendar beautifully spotlights the collective process of cooperation and collaboration – creating together. And as MSM prepares to open its doors to the season ahead, let it serve as a reminder that even in our differences we can find common ground and elevate our work as artists to fulfill the hope and promise of a better tomorrow.
Finally, all of us at MSM share a deep-seated conviction that the performing arts can provide a profound measure of uplift, healing, and consolation during tumultuous times. We look forward to offering many such moments in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Welcome.
James Gandre , President

THE CENTER FOR CAREER READINESS & COMMUNITY IMPACT
The Center for Career Readiness & Community Impact (CCRCI) supports students’ educational and professional growth as they pursue personally meaningful career paths. In addition to career-advancing coursework, the Program’s highlights include a series of arts partnerships with local K–12 schools and memory care facilities, MSM performances for visiting school groups, teaching placements for CCRCI participants, a dynamic calendar of Setting the Stage workshops, resources for current students/alumni (including the Hire A Musician referral service, Private Teacher Directory, and Online Opportunities Board), and one-onone career advising. In addition, the CCRCI continues to oversee the pathway degree Program in music education with Teachers College, an internship Program that offers an array of experiential learning opportunities to enhance students’ education, and MSM's inaugural Travel Assistance Program which provides assistance in the form of financial reimbursement to select MSM students for professional development and/or employment opportunities related to their chosen field.
