THE IMPORTANCE OF CULINARY ARTS

We have a Culinary Arts program at Association House High School run by Ms. D. There are about 13 students in the program. Our schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Every day we cook different meals and when we have leftovers we can take it home so our family can have a taste.

Culinary arts is an important thing to have because attending the program will allow you to learn the skills and knowledge that are required of a chef in the kitchen. It helps you learn how to create new dishes and how to keep the kitchen safe and most important to always wash your hands before and after dealing with raw food.

There’s more to the Culinary Arts than just learning how to be a professional chef though. Studying the Culinary Arts can help you improve your life in many ways. It could take you so far in life you might end up traveling or being the top chef in America just because you joined the program while you were in high school. It’s not just about cooking, there’s more to it that some people don’t know or might not understand.

Culinary arts food is a good way to know about a lot of different cultures around the world. You get to know what they eat, try different tastes and all type of seasonings you probably never tried that’s one of the best things about being in Culinary Arts. You get to go home and practice on the meals you did in cooking class see if you improved on cooking better by the way you are being taught. It could take you somewhere far in life probably open up your own restaurant and just all that because you had a experience in Culinary Arts.

I spoke to Maritza Vanga a student of Association House High School. She said students need Culinary Arts because it helps teens have the experience of cooking. She said Culinary Arts is working out for her because she learns new things and interacts with new students. She gets to go home and practice on her own by making food that the teacher taught them how to make. Martiza said the skills you can learn are communication and that is one of the most important skills you need to have because it will help you work better in groups. She also has improved her listening skills to listen to others’ opinions in a situation and following directions will definitely help you once you leave school she said.
