The Murdoch Student Law Society would like to issue the following statement regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our upcoming initiatives. The wellbeing of our members, sponsors and event attendees has been and will continue to be our number one priority. In light of the recent developments to the global precautions for the COVID-19, and on the recommendations from the World Health Organisation and Murdoch University, the MSLS will take all necessary precautions to ensure that a safe environment is provided to all those attending our events. At this point in time, all events will continue as planned with the necessary precautions in place. What we are doing to keep you safe: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Concentrating on keeping all members, event attendees, Murdoch students and staff, and our sponsors as safe as possible; Continuously reviewing all available information on the development of the COVID-19; Implementing a ‘no-handshake policy’ at all our events; Ensuring that hand sanitisers and antibacterial wipes will be readily available at all events; Implementing a compulsory RSVP policy to all of our events; Looking to record and/or live stream our events where possible and appropriate; Where food is provided at an event, ensuring food is distributed by dedicated persons wearing gloves; Providing gloves at all events where food is present; Liaising with venues to review and increase hygiene protocols and procedures; Providing warnings and guidance on all event marketing material.
What we need everyone to be concentrating on to keep themselves and others safe: ● ● ● ● ●

All event attendees to abide by a ‘no-handshake’ policy and limit physical contact as much as possible; All those who feel in any way unwell to not attend our events; Those who have been to countries considered to be high or medium risk in the past 14 days to not attend our events and to self-isolate; Everyone who has been in close contact with a person suspected or confirmed to have coronavirus to not attend our events and to self-isolate; Everyone should continue to use hygiene protocols including washing your hands well and regularly, covering your mouth/nose if you cough/sneeze with your bent elbow or tissue (disposing of the tissue immediately); Reconsider all personal travel; We ask if you do attend our events and subsequently appear to have flu-like symptoms to let us know as soon as possible by emailing contact@msls.asn.au.
