Family memories were made while serving in Vietnam for the Brooks family. Harold Lee Brooks, father of Lee and Paul, all served together in Vietnam for a year. Back row from left, is Murray Lee Brooks who served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1981 in the 18th Airborne Corp. during his Second tour in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault is pictured along with Paul Allen Brooks who was an M.P. in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1983. Center is Harold Lee Brooks who served as an ASA in the Army from 1946 to 1972 and in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971.

The Dawkins family members include World War II veteran James M Dawkins who served with the Army/Air Force, James C Dawkins who served in the Army, General James C Dawkins, Jr. who is currently serving in the Air Force and Captain Josh Dawkins who is serving in the Air Force.
U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel Les Cooks (retired) guards the flame at Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Texas Veteran’s Vigil. Though he was born in Oklahoma, he is currently residing in the Farmersville area. His service includes active duty from 1969 to 1978 (Enlisted); Active Duty from 1979 to 1996 (Officer) and Active Reserve 2003 to 2008 (Officer).

Colonel R.J. Farrell, who served in the U.S. Army from 1940-1966. In 1950, he served in the Korean War, and experienced the hasty withdrawal by order of Gen. MacArthur when 10,000 Chinese poured across the 48th parallel. Col. Farrell served in a Medical Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.) that was six miles from the front.
