2025 MAFP PRESIDENT James W. Ervin, MD, FAAFP “MAFP provides me the opportunity to spend time with other physicians who share the same goals and objectives that I have. During his installation address at MAFP Annual Assembly, Dr. Ervin compared his fellow Mississippi Family Physicians to Marvel Superheroes. He sees family physicians as superheroes to their patients, communities, the MAFP, and to the entire House of Medicine.

MAFP Foundation First Poster Contest The MAFP Foundation hosted its first-ever Research Poster Contest at the 2025 Spring Conference & Spring Fling. We had 15 medical students and 9 residents participate, showcasing their incredible work.

Visited 9 residency programs for resident tobacco cessation training 8 residency programs participate in Tar Wars Attended 2 health fairs for high school and college students and 2 residency fairs Gained 95 new student members Hosted WCUCOM students 11 times at MAFP Headquarters Presented at UMMC M3 Orientation 3 times Spring Fling attendees had 57 residents and students 7 residency programs exhibited at the AAFP FUTURE Conference 6 Academy Ambassadors attended MAFP Annual Scientific Assembly 24 participants in first annual poster contest 4 FutureDOX Newsletters sent to residents and students

MAFP Annual Meeting We celebrated our LEGO Building Blocks theme at the July meeting with 128 attendees and 115 family members. The meeting included a Diabetes Group KSA and 13 CME credits. The exhibit hall sold out with 88 exhibits.

MAFP Fall Conference The Fall CME Conference embraced a “No Tricks, Just Treats for MAFP” theme in the exhibit hall with 23 exhibitors and 50 attendees. It included a KSA on Heart Disease and 7 CME sessions throughout the weekend.

Degree of Fellow 7 MAFP members received the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians during the annual meeting.
