A NOTE FROM RPI PROMOTIONS

We have been fortunate to experience some very successful January livestock production sales in our coverage area. Congratulations to those producers. February will kick off a big string of sales and the quality looks outstanding. It is a great time of year, for us. We have the opportunity to get out and see the cattle, photograph livestock, and build the promotional tools needed for the individual production sales.

We have to commend the seedstock producers, as early in the season we have seen a big step up in the quality that will be offered this year.

There are more tools to use to pick your breeding stock and we suggest that you use them for what they are . . . tools. We highly suggest not letting one of the tools or traits override eye appeal and conformation of the bulls being purchased. Most commercial cattlemen have their own perimeters on their bull selection and what has been working within their herd and environment. With a wide selection of quality within our reach, cattlemen should be able to upgrade in the direction needed within the cowherd to make their product better.

As you read through the pages of this issue of The Cattlemen’s Invite, you will find cattle that are backed by years and years of testing and production records. These cattle have produced a great set of bulls for the sales in 2018.

We have experienced some extreme cold temperatures this past month and we need to be aware of damage that could occur to the bull battery. Testing your bulls early will be very beneficial to your program so that you know what bulls you need to purchase this coming year.

Don’t wait until June to round up a group of bulls to complete the breeding season.

Let us know if you need assistance with your bull purchases or have questions concerning a certain program. We also highly recommend contacting the individual breeders and using their years of knowledge in the seedstock business.
