NOVEMBER 16
NORTHERN GREEN
This past summer season for many of us has been hot and dry making most of our jobs even more difficult. Combine this with increased prices and staffing con cerns this has been another challenging year for our industry. Not to reduce the impact of today, but how many years or have we even had a year without challenges. This is part of why we do what we do, we are a group of problem solvers, this group adapts to changing conditions sometimes multiple times a day. I think this is part of why we chose this career path, it is challenging, and it provides us satisfaction to overcome those obstacles that consistently are in our path. Even though we may get some level of enjoyment out of working around a weather pattern, budget reduction or even a staffing concern; I think we can all agree having all of them at the same time, for most of a growing season is a bit much. This is where our MPSTMA colleagues can help and be a source of information and assistance. We don’t have to get through challenges and difficulty alone to feel that satisfac tion, having others input can make that feeling even greater. I encourage all of you to reach out to another MPSTMA member and talk or vent some frustration about this past season who knows you may find yourself another friend in the industry.

A day of education, vendor displays and networking
My last message was written on a cold, wet spring day. Today the weather is great with upper 70’s, light winds, clear skies and rain in the forecast. The time between these two days has been challenging to say the least for most of you.

As urbanization continues, native plants are often displaced by highly cultured species in these unnatural landscapes. The utilization of native plant species, where appropriate, can have significant value to pollinators, wildlife, and the surrounding environment. In this Master Class you will learn from experts which native plants would be most appropriate in practical settings such as lawns, landscapes, prairies and wetlands.
