Lapsit combines short rhymes, songs, fingerplays, and books to introduce children to the wonder of language, as well as sensory play to improve motor skills.

Toddler Time is a structured 30-minute program in which books, story-related activities, and take-home crafts provide an enjoyable experience.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Storytime Friday, September 6 4-5 pm Ages 3-7 Youth Activity Room Bring one of your favorite friends to the library for a storytime and craft before leaving them for a fun overnight adventure! Pick up your friend the next morning during our Breakfast Buddies event. Limited to 25 children (one animal per child). Registration is required.

Breakfast Buddies Storytime Saturday, September 7 10:15-11 am All Ages Youth Activity Room For those that participated in our Stuffed Animal Sleepover, join us in the morning to pick up your friend and view a slideshow of all of the fun and mischief our friends had overnight! Didn’t have an animal attend the sleepover? No problem! All are welcome for donuts and juice as well as a storytime focused on stories about friendship. Registration is required.

Together we will dig for dinosaur bones, crack the secret mummy code, and learn about volcanoes! Children may enter the room independently; adult caregivers must remain in the library. Minecraft™ Mania Monday, October 7 4-5 pm Grades 3-5 Friends Learning Center Join us to play Minecraft™ on the library’s server. New and experienced players are welcome. Children may come into the room independently; adult caregivers must remain in the library. Registration is required.

Tween Time: Plush Sugar Skulls Friday, November 1 4-5 pm Grades 4-7 Youth Activity Room Celebrate the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) by hand-sewing and decorating a laced plush sugar skull. Caregivers must remain in the library. Registration is required.

Won't You Be My Neighbor? Family Fort Night Tuesday, November 12 6-7 pm All Ages Youth Activity Room

It’s a beautiful day in the library! Bring the whole family and build a fort together with boxes, blankets, pillows, and more! After we build our forts, we’ll relax in them as we enjoy an episode of the beloved show starring Fred Rogers. Some materials will be provided for fort building, but families are encouraged to bring their own. Popcorn and juice/water will be provided. Registration is required.

Frozen Party Thursday, November 14 4-5 pm Ages Birth-7 Youth Activity Room Come to the library and have fun with all of your favorite characters from Arendelle! Join us for stories, music, games, and a craft! Adult caregivers must remain in the room. Registration is required.

Tween Time: Tissue Paper Canvas Friday, November 15 4-5 pm Grades 4-7 Youth Activity Room Interested in making art in unusual ways? Come to the Mishawaka Library for an afternoon of creativity using tissue paper on canvas. This not so common pairing is a great way to try different (and less messy!) techniques. Caregivers must remain in the library. Registration is required.

Halloween Spooktacular Haunted House Friday, October 18 & Saturday, October 19 7-9 pm | All Ages Battell Center Join the Mishawaka Parks Department for a ghoulishly good time at the third annual Halloween Fun House at the Battell Community Center. Every twist and turn of the Battell Center will be transformed into a spooky fun house featuring Halloween tricks and treats… and a scary story or two from your librarians! MPHPL and Sylvan Learning Center are teaming up to provide high school students with an opportunity to take a free SAT practice test. The assessment will be proctored at the library, courtesy of Sylvan Learning Center. Space is limited. Registration is required. Students should bring a #2 pencil and a calculator. Enjoy a night of battling your friends and overcoming the obstacles set out for you. NERF™ darts for any N-strike Elite Series Rampage Blaster and most NERF™ toy guns will be provided, but teens must bring their own NERF™ toy guns. Registration is required.
