Registration is required for the monthly storytime session. Caregivers are expected to participate as able.

TODDLER TIME

PRESCHOOL PALS

Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Books & Babies is a structured 30 minute program that combines books, short rhymes, songs, fingerplays and movement activities to introduce children to the wonder of language. Sessions are limited to 15 participants.

Toddler Time is a structured 30 minute program in which books, story-related activities and take-home crafts provide an enjoyable group experience. Sessions are limited to 30 participants.

Children are encouraged to interact socially with other children and attend sessions independently. Caregivers must remain in the library. Preschool Pals is a structured 30 minute program in which books, story-related activities and take-home crafts are used to increase early literacy skills and kindergarten readiness. Sessions are limited to 30 participants.

Join us weekly for stories, songs and a craft live on Zoom! The themes and crafts for this program are the same as our in person Toddler Time sessions. Participants will receive an email with registration confirmation and kit pick up information. An additional email reminder will be sent weekly containing the secured meeting link to attend Zoom sessions. Attendance is expected for live sessions; recordings are not available.

Join us for a new homeschool book club with a plethora of activities ranging from book trivia to STEAM and everything in between. Each month will include different activities. The book for May will be Twenty-One Balloons by William DuBois. Copies of the book will be available for checkout at each Youth Services desk beginning April 18. One copy per family. Your child can read the book alone or share the book as a family read aloud. Adult caregivers must remain in the library for participants 11 years of age and younger. Registration required.

Virtual via Zoom | Mon., May 23 4:30-5 p.m. | Ages 4-8 Ready to travel the world? During this fun and informative session, you’ll learn all about countries from around the world. Craft, activity and recipe resources will be provided so you can experience a little bit of the country from home. This month, we're visiting Scotland! Registration required. Teen Gaming

Join us in the teen department for gaming! Play our Nintendo Switch™ or choose from an assortment of card, dice and board games. Stop in and play for a few minutes or join us for the full two hours. Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia Mishawaka Library | Tues., May 3 6:30-7:30 p.m. | Adults (18+)

Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer's, the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia, stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available for some symptoms. This program is presented in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Indiana Chapter. Registration required.

Join us for Family Space Day Saturday, May 7! Mishawaka Library: 10:30 a.m.-Noon Bittersweet Branch: 3-4:30 p.m.

THREE, TWO, ONE, BLAST OFF! The James Webb Space Telescope launched to space last winter, and we’re celebrating with National Space Day activities! Participants will view beautiful images of nebulae, galaxies and other celestial objects in space while creating stellar take home nebula jars. Adult caregivers must remain in the room for participants 11 years of age and younger. Registration required.

Family Literacy Night Mishawaka Library Thursday, May 12 4:30-7 p.m. Does your family love to read? Then join us for this celebration of all things literary! We’ll have a book tasting as well as bookish games and crafts. A librarian will also be available to provide book recommendations to your family.
