January 3 - February 28 | All Ages It’s not too late to join our Winter Reading Challenge! This year’s theme is “Reading for the Chill of It” and we have a variety of activities for you to complete. Visit any MPHPL location at any service desk to pick up a Reading Challenge card or download one from our website. Participation is easy, just mark one square for each unique reading (or listening) activity you complete. Return your completed card for a book of your choice and an automatic entry into our special prize drawing for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. One gift card will be selected for children, teens and adults. Curbside service is available for pick up and returns if you prefer. Limit one Reading Challenge card per person!

Travel down Rainbow Road to the library with the whole family to celebrate Mario™ Day! Dress as your favorite character from the Mushroom Kingdom and get in on the action! We will have the Nintendo Switch™ available, as well as a variety of other activities commemorating Mario and all of his friends and nemeses. Books & Babies is a structured 30 minute program that combines books, short rhymes, songs, fingerplays and movement activities to introduce children to the wonder of language. Sessions are limited to 15 participants.

Toddler Time is a structured 30 minute program in which books, story-related activities and take-home crafts provide an enjoyable group experience. Sessions are limited to 30 participants.

Preschool Pals is a structured 30 minute program in which books, story-related activities and take-home crafts are used to increase early literacy skills and kindergarten readiness. Free Practice ACT® Test

MPHPL and Sylvan Learning Center are teaming up to provide high school students with an opportunity to take a free ACT practice test. The assessment will be proctored at the library, courtesy of Sylvan Learning Center. Space is limited. After the test, teens and their parents can contact Sylvan (574) 254-1055 to receive their personalized results. Students should bring a No. 2 pencil and a calculator. What do I need for a library card at the Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library? To obtain your Library card you must: 1. Live in Penn or Harris Township, or have a home Library card from a Library system which is reciprocal with MPHPL (some restrictions may apply).

Lending Limits: - Books & Audiobooks - No Limit - Magazines, Music CDs, & Playaways - No Limit - New Release DVDs - 3 per card - Entertainment DVDs - 20 per card - TV Series & Non-Fiction DVDs - 20 per card

Fees and Fines: - New Release DVDs - $1 per day - All other items - 25¢ per day

Provide required documentation (1) a valid photo ID with current address OR (2) a valid photo ID and proof of current address if ID address is not current OR (3) a valid photo ID and a valid resident home Library card for reciprocal applicants 3. A parent/legal guardian's signature is required for any minor under the age of 18 wishing to register for or renew a Library card. *Non-residents may purchase a fee card.
