The season isn’t over yet for Pearcedale as the are contending for the last finals position, but Karingal were their Round 16 opponents and would make it a difficultpathforthem.

Karingal and Pearcedale battled to control the first quarter as equal intercepts were gained by both teams, but it was the hosts that managed to push ahead late to a 4-goal lead at quarter time. The second quarter saw the Bullettes execute too many long passes and credit to the Panthers for reading the play and regaining possession to help bring the difference down to 3 goals at half time. Devon Meadows made additional changes which may have beencriticaltothematchheavilyfavouringKaringal inthethirdterm.TheBullettessetthemselvesaclear focus of using more shorts passes, and with some positional changes they were able to pile on 16 goals which helped push the margin out to 11 goals with a quarter remaining. The fourth quarter was even across the board as no momentum was gained by either team, but it was Karingal who took out the 12 goalwin.

Mornington hosted a very experienced Seaford outfit whocurrentlysit2ndontheladder.Morningtonhave progressed nicely throughout the season, even thoughtthewinshavenotbeenintheirfavourithas beenthecompetitivematchesinthisyoungsidethat hascomponentstalking.

The Doggies were missing their older and experienced players to assist the younger ones, but this did not deter the team as the played like seasoned A Graders. Mornington acknowledge their slow start to to this match, ending the first term downby10goals.Thehostswereconfidenttheyhad therightsevenplayersoncourtandintheirpositions and entered the second quarter in a different mindset knowing there was plenty of match remaining. Charlotte Sengstock and Ava Banks were magnificent in defence as they shut down the goalers in the 2nd quarter, with Victoria Downward and Bianca Anderson did an excellent job in goals. Winnie Wilson was a fill in player starting in WD, but with a change adding her to the bench to watch Georgia Dixon and the coach explaining her expectations, she was entered back into the match and played a vital two quarters. The Tigers made changestotheirmidcourtastheyhelda14-goallead in the second half. But it was Mornington who went ontowinthelasttwoquarterstoreducethemargin. While they still lost by 10 goals, they were impressive with the way the midcourt brought the ball through Seaford’s zone and executing every opportunity they workedhardfor.
