In the match of the round, Langwarrin hosted Sorrento in a 2nd v 3rd showdown. Last time these teams met, Langwarrin took a comfortable 24 goal win, but as the season has progressed and Sorrento displaying some exceptional netball this win would beupforgrabs.

Asthefirstwhistleblew,Sorrentowasreadyfortheir challenge ahead. Dominique Taylor who remained theteamsfocalpointunderpost,combinedwellwith Alana de Wolde as they headed into quarter time with a lead of 7 goals. The Sharks took the momentum and made no changes for the start of thesecondquarter,howevertheRollingSubstitutions were quickly introduced. The undermanned Langwarrin got themselves into the game after their slowstartandwereabletoreducethescorelineand went into the second half trailing by 3 goals. The Sharks knew they had to find another level after the momentum switch, as the players executed everything coach Bec Risol asked of them and took the lead out by 8. The Roos did all they could to get themselves back in the match with some nice passages of play but were too inconsistent to make up the deficit that was ahead of them in the last quarter. The win went to the hosts by 7 goals. Sorrento acknowledges the stars of the day was the whole team effort and contribution. This win puts Sorrento on equal points with Langwarrin on the ladderwithonlythreematchesremaining.Whatwas witnessedtodaymaybeapreviewofaclosebattlein thefirstweekoffinals.
Next week Sorrento host Mt Eliza, and Langwarrin competeagainstDromanaatLloydPark.
BONBEACH(36)vMTELIZA(54)
Plenty on the line for Mt Eliza, as a win in this match against Bonbeach would secure their position in finals. Last time they met, the Redlegs took the win by13goals.
Mt Eliza were kquick off the mark, owning control of the match from the first whistle with a lead at the first break by 9 goals. The visitors were able to utilise all10playersthroughoutthematch,withtheircoach acknowledgingtheteamworkofsupportandfighting for every ball. The defence end of Holly Baker, Bree Lane and Charli Brown were excellent for Bonbeach, as they faced a number of experienced opponents. Heading into the second half, the Redlegs had doubled the score of the Sharks, leading by 16 goals. Mt Eliza remained consistent over the journey, with quick transition play proving to be the difference.
Emily Bennet was back to her brilliance, shooting at 90% for her three quarters on court. The Sharks had patches of very competitive netball which was heavily on display throughout the last quarter allowing the hosts to win the last but losing the matchby18goals.
Mt Eliza will be able to use their next match against Sorrento to determine where they sit against a top 3 side, and Bonbeach will head to Jubilee Park against YCW.
