Somervillehavebeenbuoyedbytheadditionsofex-VFL andAFLmidfieldersMasonDeWit&TomMurphywho havestarredthisyearfortheEagles.Bothmidfielders were named in the Team of the Year and enter this clash as the two main-men for Somerville. We started our journey with our senior coach Chris Gamble in July last year. Gammers is just what our clubneeded,hebelievesinourclubandwebelievein him.Hisprofessionalismandhardworkhastrulygot ustothispointwhereweendeavourtobreakthe37 yeardroughtofourlastpremiership.

He played the majority of his career in jumpernumber6whichhechoseafterhisUncle theLateAndrewDohertywhowasalsoaSenior Best & Fairest at Somerville and played VFA footballforFrankston.

HavingtestedhimselfatseniorlevelintheMPNFL

Markwantedtotryhishandatthehigherlevel. HeplayedaseasonwithFrankstonintheVFLin 1999andplayedalltheregularseasonmatches andthefinalsonlytobeknockedoutinstraight sets. He returned to Somerville in 2000 and remaineduntilhisretirementattheendof2005, notchingup204seniorgames.

Mark is currently serving as the Assistant Treasurer of the club and one of the hardest workersyouwillfind.
