Cristo Rey New York High School is a Catholic, co-ed, college-prep school, part of the national Cristo Rey Network. We serve students of all faiths who have demonstrated the potential and motivation to achieve success and who do not have the educational background or financial means to attend another private, college-prep school. uided by the spirit of care for the individual, cura G personalis, we challenge all our students with a rigorous academic curriculum and a demanding work-internship program. Our ultimate goal is that our students will graduate from college and become professionals for others, transforming the world for the good of their families and society.

Dear Friends of Cristo Rey New York High School: Cristo Rey New York’s founding congregations—the Society of Jesus, the Brothers of the Christian Schools, and the Society of the Holy Child Jesus—share a profound insight about education: knowing each student as an individual is the core element of a fruitful teaching relationship. We use the term, cura personalis, to describe our care for the whole person. We strive to understand each student’s family situation, temperament, and capacity. By recognizing the unique gifts and circumstances of each young person, we build trust and confidence. Our founders understood what modern research affirms: students thrive when they are truly known, when their individual struggles and strengths are seen and honored. At Cristo Rey New York, our teachers, coaches, work supervisors, and mentors carry forward this centuriesold tradition. They teach subjects and simultaneously accompany young people on their journeys, attending to their formation as whole persons—mind, body, heart, and spirit. An education that makes sure students are known and loved transforms not just grades and test scores, but lives.

Sustaining a community that places the personal care for each student at its core requires the collaboration of many partners. Thank you for your generous support of Cristo Rey New York and our students. Thank you for providing the opportunity for our students to pursue the high-quality education they deserve. Thank you for encouraging our students to develop their gifts to the fullest so that they can use them in service of others. Thank you for keeping Cristo Rey New York in your prayers. We invite your continued partnership in this mission so that students can transform their lives for the good of their families and society. With gratitude,
John Rogan, Board Chair Daniel Dougherty, President

Our corporate partners open doors to new opportunities. Our donors and alumni continue to strengthen this mission through their trust and generosity. Partnerships that Change Lives
Corporate Work Study Program Every morning, our students put on their uniforms, step onto subways and buses, and enter workplaces across the city with courage in their hearts. For many, they are the first in their families to walk into an office building, greet a CEO, or contribute to a professional team. They arrive ready to learn, ask questions, and bring their own energy, ideas, and determination to every task.
Through the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), each student works one day a week in a professional setting, earning critical income that helps fund their education while gaining skills and confidence that will shape their future. They learn to speak up in meetings, ask thoughtful questions, and adapt to new challenges—lessons no textbook can teach. They don’t just develop job skills; they build confidence, resilience,
and a vision for what’s possible. They discover the power of networking, the importance of professionalism, and the thrill of realizing, “I belong here.” Our partners consistently share that Cristo Rey students bring something unique to their offices: curiosity that inspires colleagues, a willingness to learn that lifts teams, and a work ethic that strengthens workplace culture. Students, in turn,

“Being a Lion means to be confident, determined, and full of grit—striving to overcome challenges while serving others.”
When Laura ’26 reflects on her time at CRNYHS, she first mentions the sense of community. “This school has always been a great shoulder to lean on. I like to describe it as a second home.” Encouraged by teachers and the college guidance team, Laura continues to grow academically and personally. Through the Gerstner Foundation, she attended Brown University’s “Intro to Medicine” program last summer, strengthening her confidence and independence. At her CWSP role at Bellevue Hospital, she assists in the OB-GYN clinic, developing empathy and professionalism. With goals of becoming a combat medic after college, these experiences are invaluable for her growth during her high school career.

As valedictorian at Dunbarton College and a Fulbright Scholar, Lorraine Lutz distinguished herself as an enthusiastic student. She credited the nuns at St. Ann’s Grade School for igniting her early love of the English language. Beyond the classroom, Lorraine sang, danced, and played piano. She developed an affinity for Cristo Rey New York thanks to her friendship with two of our founders, Sr. Peg Doyle, SHCJ and Fr. Joe Parkes, S.J. Her appreciation for the arts shone through her support of Cristo Rey New York’s drama productions. Lorraine’s passion for CRNYHS’s mission was evident, as she regularly attended our student-focused events, including school plays, Founders Day, and graduation. Through a generous bequest from her estate, Lorraine’s legacy lives on in the “Lorraine Lutz Scholars” whose lives are transformed by the opportunities she makes possible. If you would like to learn more about bequests, please contact Alex Castellano at acastellano@cristoreyny.org.
