Grounds Winter is often perceived as a slower time for the golf course with leaf season behind us and the grass dormant. However, our golf course maintenance crew has been staying busy with the first of a few drainage projects. Drainage improvements were added behind #6 green, an area where many golf balls find their way into saturated lies. The maintenance team utilized Turf Drain, a slit type drainage that is back filled with sand to help dry up areas faster.

The pictures show the work in progress as well as the newly acquired Toro Dingo with a trencher attachment. Plans to identify and address wet areas around greens will continue throughout the winter. We try to minimize the disturbance during this process as much as possible, but the sod stripped areas will not heal and disappear until warmer temperatures allow the grass to begin growing.

Until then please play these areas as ground under repair.

Golf

Staff Update: Intern Jacob McClish Please welcome our new golf intern, Jacob McClish. Jacob is a Professional Golf Management intern from Mississippi State University.

He is honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Myers Park Golf Staff for the next seven months. Jacob is an Air Force brat who was born in Minot, ND. Shortly after birth Jacob’s family received orders to move to Lakenheath Air Force Base in England, which they called home for four years. Following their time in England the family was transferred back to the United States to Ocean Springs, MS. Jacob and his family have lived on the Gulf Coast for nearly twenty years.

Jacob has a passion for golf and loves the game. During his time here he will be exposed to all facets of the MPCC Golf Operation. He will have the opportunity to teach, play, and learn the ins and outs of the golf business. Please take a moment to welcome Jacob when you see him around the club. We are excited to have him and he will be a great addition to our staff.

Roland & Chylene Robinson welcomed a grandson, Joseph Lemley Quinn, on April 15, 2020 Dr. Chip & Victoria Howell welcomed a grandson, Parker James Knowlton, on September 18, 2020.

Cooper & Marion Morrison welcomed a daughter, Martha Grace, on October 27, 2020.

Teaching Professional Ryan O'Mahoney and his wife Talyson welcomed a son, Connor O'Mahoney, on January 26, 2021.

Fitness

FITNESS CENTER REMINDERS Masks are required at all times and are to be worn over your mouth and nose Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 6AM-9PM (hard close) Saturday and Sunday 8AM-6PM (hard close) Gym reservations are for 90 minutes, but we ask you to leave after 75 minutes to allow us to clean and sanitize all equipment.

Advanced registration is required for all group exercise classes.

Eligible dependents can work out Monday through Friday during the 12, 1:30 and 3:00PM sessions, and Saturday and Sunday during sessions from 12:30 - 6:30PM. Reservations are required by a parent.

Gym capacity is limited to 15 members per session Guests are not permitted at this time.
