Marty White CLUB PRESIDENT As I write this letter, our Club is proudly hosting the 100th Carolinas Open. Much like when we hosted the Junior Presidents Cup in 2022, I am filled with pride at the opportunity to showcase our beautiful golf course and Club. Speaking of pride in beautiful things, I want to give special recognition to Erin Murphy. If you do not know Erin, she is our Club’s horticulturist and is responsible for the flowers and plantings throughout the Club campus. I don’t know a thing about flowers, but I do know ours look great. In fact, almost every time I am walking to the Clubhouse with a guest, the first thing they say is how beautiful the flowers are. Please be sure to thank Erin the next time you see her.

Autumn means back to school, football season (my favorite time of the year) and fall golf tournaments. This autumn, we will also see two exciting developments in our Clubhouse. By the time you read this letter, the rebranding of Donald Ross will have been launched. It harkens back to a speakeasy with a 1920s-inspired drink menu and glassware. The Donald Ross will be the exclusive home of unique and rare bourbons, ryes, and other liquors and will feature wines not available in any other venue at the Club. The Donald Ross is open Tuesday through Saturday from 3-9pm and no reservations are required! Please make a point to drop in soon.

After a summer hiatus, the Byron Nelson reopens this Thursday, September 5. Back by popular demand, the Chophouse theme returns, featuring favorites like a classic Caesar and iceberg wedge, USDA Prime steaks and chops, and decadent house-made desserts. The Byron Nelson is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 5-9 p.m. by reservation (adults 18+ only, please).

I am pleased to report that your Club continues to thrive.

Demand for membership remains incredibly high, the golf course and pool are seeing tremendous utilization, and the summer menus have been a hit (I hope you tried the bologna sandwich and lobster roll!). Also, despite a rainy summer, the Racquet Center expansion project remains on time and on budget. The completion continues to be slated for the end of the year, and we cannot wait to welcome you to the grand reopening.

DINING HIGHLIGHTS Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd A la carte dining will be suspended on Labor Day. Soup, salads, and the Donald Ross Lounge menu will be available during lunch.

The Clubhouse, golf shop, range, and golf course will be closed on September 3rd. The tennis and fitness facilities will keep normal hours.

Autumn menus will launch early September The culinary team is pleased to deliver a refreshed dining experience throughout club venues beginning early September.

Updated menus will include something for everyone, with new, autumn-inspired selections and familiar member mainstays.

RACQUETS JUNIOR SCHEDULE Little Hitters

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4pm Teaches introductory tennis skills in a fun and positive format to get your little ones interested and excited about tennis.

Focuses on outdoor exercise, increasing body coordination and awareness, and encouraging group participation. $18

Junior Development

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4-5pm Students learn more advanced stroke production, tennis rules and etiquette, and basic singles/doubles strategy. This class is designed to include a variety of ages and skill levels from beginner to high intermediate. $24

Junior Competition

Tuesday and Wednesday from 5-6pm For juniors playing competitive and sanctioned match-play (Myers Park USA teams, middle/high school teams, tournaments). This program is for those dedicated to improving and competing at a high level. $24

CARDIO TENNIS Starting September 14th, cardio tennis will move to two classes on Saturday mornings only.

GROUP EXERCISE Fitness offers 16 group exercise classes every week! Rather than trying to come up with your own exercise routine, you can choose the classes that fit your schedule, meet new friends with similar goals, learn good technique and get an effective workout! Here’s why you should give group exercise a try…

DRIVEN BY MUSIC: every group exercise class incorporates upbeat music because studies have shown that people work harder when exercising with music STAY MOTIVATED: exercising with a group can help you stay committed and meet your goals. Group ex members are more successful because they train more times per week on average and stick with their routines longer.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY: one of the best ways to meet your workout goals is to make exercise a part of your regular routine.

Group exercise classes are offered at different times on different days, so you can choose the ones that fit your schedule.

ACCOUNTABILITY: when life gets hectic, it can be tempting to skip a workout, but knowing your friends and instructor will notice when you’re gone can be the push you need to get out the door.

STRUCTURED WORKOUTS: whether you’re new to working out or want to take your fitness to the next level, there’s no need to wander around the gym trying to decide what to do next. Group exercise instructors are trained to create effective workouts that will help you get the strengthening, stretching and cardiovascular work you need.
