Plunging for Pink is an event of the “Paint the Town Pink Festival” in Austin, MN. This polar plunge event was started as a way to raise funds for breast cancer research. Participants of the plunge are asked to raise a minimum donation amount of $50 in order to plunge into the frigid waters of icy East Side Lake. You can jump as a team, or jump as an individual.

Before the event, participants will need to register online using the tab at the top of the page. You can raise funds and jump on your own, or you can reach out to your friends and family and make it a fun group effort!

The day of the event, plungers are asked to show up 20 minutes in advance to insure any time for changing, to pick up their Plunging for Pink T-shirt, to sign in at the registration table and to turn in the donations that you collected for taking the plunge! Any checks that are written should be made out to The Hormel Institute. One week prior to Plunging for Pink, all participants will be emailed the schedule of when they will be plunging. On site for safety will be Austin Fire Department and Paramedics. There will be two warming hot tubs as well as two heated enclosed trailers for changing! Coffee and Cocoa will be provided courtesy of Lindsay Bires and the American Family Insurance Office.

The spirit of the Plunging for Pink event is to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The money raised for the Plunging for Pink event will be going directly to the world-renowned breast cancer research of The Hormel Institute. Last year, the Austin community blew away the expectations and raised more than $15,000 at the plunge. This made a huge splash in the $115,000 raised by the Paint the Town Pink initiative. This year, the bar has been raised to $150,000. Join in on the fun family event that is directly supporting a great cause for the Austin community as well as breast cancer research around the world.
