Many of our members have had the pleasure of being pulled by Tim and Terry in the CVM mule wagon at past MVMA conventions. In the words of Dr. John Dodam who helped care for the mules over the years..... ” He was an incredibly special mule, and it was a true privilege to work alongside him.” Tim will be missed by all.

From the President Dear MVMA Membership: As summer transitions into fall, I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Missouri Veterinary Medical Association President. One of the Lynn Martin, DVM most rewarding aspects of this role has been traveling across the state and attending district meetings. These gatherings provide valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues, hear about the challenges and successes occurring in practices of every size and type, and learn how the MVMA can continue to support our members. I appreciate the hospitality shown at each meeting and the thoughtful conversations that help shape our association’s priorities. One of the highlights of the summer was the inaugural MVMA Practice Management Seminar held in early August. The event was a tremendous success, bringing together veterinarians and practice leaders for practical discussions focused on the business side of

veterinary medicine. The positive feedback we received demonstrates a strong interest in this type of programming, and we are already exploring opportunities to offer similar educational experiences in the future. Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, and helped make this first seminar such a success.

Medicine’s second Convocation Ceremony will have recently celebrated the newest class of professional veterinary students as they begin their four-year journey toward becoming veterinarians. Their enthusiasm and commitment to the profession are inspiring reminders of the bright future ahead for veterinary medicine.

As I write this message, the Missouri State Fair is just around the corner. I hope many of you have had the opportunity to volunteer at the MVMA booth. The State Fair provides a unique chance for our profession to engage directly with the public and the many stakeholders who care deeply about animal health, agriculture, and veterinary medicine. These interactions help strengthen public understanding of the vital role veterinarians play in our communities, and I am grateful to all who dedicate their time to represent our profession.

Looking ahead, I am excited for the opportunities to reconnect with many of you at upcoming MVMA events. I hope to see you at the Fall Trail Ride and, of course, at our Annual Convention in Columbia this January. These gatherings continue to strengthen the relationships that make our profession and our association so special.

This time of year also marks an exciting season for veterinary education. I have had the privilege of participating in the Veterinary Education and Teambuilding (VET) program for incoming veterinary students and helping welcome the next generation of veterinarians. Additionally, the University of Missouri College of Veterinary

From the Secretary-Treasurer Humor in Veterinary Medicine What makes you laugh? Why is it important that you laugh? We’ve all heard that “Laughter is the Best Medicine”. But why? Laughter triggers powerful physical and Shelia Taylor, DVM emotional changes in the body. According to HYPERLINK “https://www.helpguide.org/mental-health/ wellbeing/laughter-is-the-best-medicine” \t “_blank”HelpGuide.org, laughter strengthens the immune system by decreasing cortisol and increasing immune mediators that improve disease resistance, boosts the mood, diminishes pain through the release of endorphins, protects the heart by lowering blood pressure and increasing blood flow, and even (my favorite) burns calories. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress. And we all know that there is NO physical tension or stress in the practice of veterinary medicine. One of my all time favorite veterinarian cartoonists was, of course, Dr. Robert 3

Miller. His cartoons would always make me laugh while expressing many of the truths of veterinary practice. Another was Dr. Baxter Black. Dr. Black had a unique way of looking at practice that carried humor with it. Even with some of the most somber things of practice, both Drs. Miller and Black would make us laugh at our every day lives. One of my current favorite humorists is Dr. Frank Bozelka who is an emergency and critical care veterinarian and popular social media creator from Chicago. While he started out doing online media to educate clients (and still does), he started doing satires of what really goes on with clients and their pets. One of my all time favorites of his is “Things the veterinarians can say that human doctors just can’t”: “Oh, Holly, (imagine that Holly is an old Bassett Hound) those nipples are just draggin’ on the ground, aren’t they?” So I was examining a male puppy for a vaccination exam and feeling the appropriate anatomy and this comes out of my mouth: “He’s a one baller.” Really?? But the client and I both got a good laugh. We waited until the puppy’s next visit to revisit the situation and I was proud to declare

the puppy was now a “2 baller”. Of course, we neutered him shortly after that so he is now a no baller. One of our assistants said one day to a dog as she was going back to get a weight, “Let’s go see all the smells in the back.” That has become a favorite of ours at the clinic. Sometimes we get a laugh out of the clients and sometimes they just look at us funny. Of course, this makes us laugh even more. In the back. So what tickles your funny bone? What are some of the funniest things or sayings that you have encountered in practice? Bring them to the convention in January and look me up. I always need a great laugh. The MVMA’s 135th Annual Convention: Offering Education, Fellowship and Fun The MVMA Convention Planning Committee wants members to consider “Sharpening the Saw” by taking the time to optimize your professional and personal potential. They have been working diligently to create a valuable experience for you full of high-quality continuing education lectures and labs. This year’s meeting will be held January 28-31, 2027 at the Wyndham Executive Center, Columbia, Mo. Register for the full convention or any single day or days you want to attend. Meals are included with full registration, but must be selected. Full registration (Thursday-Sunday) encompasses 24 contiguous CE hours from a selection of 115 hours offered across multiple tracks covering companion animal, food animal, equine, soft skills, special interest, practice management, and technician. Labs will be conducted on various subjects throughout the weekend. See the schedule of continuing education programs included in the convention registration booklet mailed inside the winter issue of the Missouri Veterinary Quarterly Magazine in November. Online convention information and online registration coming soon at www.movmaconvention.com. While attending the convention, be sure to drop by the Exhibit Hall where over 65 vendors will show you the latest innovations and programs in veterinary medicine, and a chance of winning one or more of many door prizes. Back this year, the human rabies titer testing booth will be set up in the Exhibit Hall. Thursday seminars include a variety of topics including the Missouri Stocker/ Feeder Quality Assurance Block Trust and BQA Certification, as well as, the MVMA Academy Mini-Topics Seminar packed with short, informative presentations on a number of subjects. Thursday is also packed with committee meetings and meetings of the MVMA Executive Board and the Foundation Board. Friday night fun at the Foundation Reception and Drawing. Admission is free to all (no purchase required). Silent Auction and 50/50 participation is appreciated. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. An optional chance to win $10,000 and many other cash prizes. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased through the registration form, on our website or by calling the office at 573-636-8737. You need not be present to win. The drawing will take place during the Reception. Purchase a ticket by December 15 to be eligible for the Early Bird Drawing. Would you like to donate an item to the Silent Auction? Also on Friday, you’ll want to attend the MVMA Student-Vet Networking event. CVM students (mostly 1st and 2nd-year classes), technicians, and veterinarians meet and greet to match up for mentorship, preceptorships, and contacts for future post-graduation employment. 4

Saturday begins with the Annual General Membership Meeting and Breakfast. Come early to take part in the business of your association. Also at Saturday’s meeting, the MVMA will welcome our keynote speaker, MU CVM alumnus Dr. Amanda Donnelly. More information to be announced. Veterinary students can join in as we bridge the gap between generations in veterinary medicine! This forum and mixer is open to Recent Graduates from classes 2017-2026 and DVM students. The first hour provides a relaxed and engaging environment where new graduates can offer real-world perspectives and students can gain valuable insight into the transition from classroom to clinic. The evening will wrap up with open discussions on life after graduation and discovering how to shape your own path in veterinary medicine. For Veterinary Technicians and Practice Staff: Throughout the weekend, veterinary technicians will have the ability to attend the same continuing education sessions as veterinarians, as well as a technician track on Saturday. Technicians are invited to attend the MVTA Reception on Saturday evening with swag and refreshments. Saturday evening’s events are the highlight of the weekend. Start out with an MVMA members reception and get ready to attend the MVMA Awards Ceremony where presentations are made to highlight some of the unsung heroes in the profession. Stick around after the awards ceremony for fellowship with family, friends, and colleagues. Dinner is included with full registration if selected on the registration form or for purchase with day-by-day registration but not required for the awards presentation. Sunday continues with the MVMA/MU-CVM Breakfast with the College and another half-day of lectures and labs.

The MVMA hopes this weekend helps you explore new possibilities in your profession with events planned to bring the best of veterinary medicine to our members and fun events for your enjoyment. Mark January 28-31 on your calendar.

23 Years of Service: Remembering Tim, a Beloved Mizzou Mule

Practice Matters Draws 32 to Inaugural Seminar

MVMA welcomed 32 attendees including veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and practice staff to Camden on the Lake Resort on August 6 for its inaugural Practice Matters: Practice Management Seminar.

For more than two decades, Tim was a familiar face at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine — representing Mizzou at events across the state, posing for photos and enjoying attention from students at the barn. At the age of 33, he was humanely euthanized on Aug. 24, 2026, following a decline in his health and quality of life. Born April 13, 1993, Tim came to Mizzou alongside his longtime teammate, Terry, in December 2003. The pair were purchased for the College of Veterinary Medicine by Sydenstricker Implement Co. from Max Eagleburger of Elkland, Missouri.

Featured speaker Fritz Wood, CPA, shared practical insight on practice ownership, buy-ins, financial decisionmaking, and practice operations. The day concluded with a panel of early career practice owners, who offered candid perspectives on their journeys into ownership and leadership. MVMA extends a special thank you to Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Bank of America for their generous sponsorship and support of this inaugural event. Their partnership helped make this new educational opportunity possible for Missouri’s veterinary community. The seminar was also made possible in part through memorial contributions given in memory of Dr. Rodney Chapman. We are grateful for these gifts and honored to put them toward continuing education that supports Missouri’s veterinary profession. Thank you to everyone who helped make the inaugural Practice Matters a success.

Together, Tim and Terry became ambassadors for the college and university while also becoming an important part of the student experience. Through the Mule Club, students learned to care for, harness and drive the mules, building skills and relationships that extended well beyond the classroom. John Dodam, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVAA, a longtime faculty member and leader who has helped care for the mules for many years, saw firsthand the impact Tim had both at the college and across Missouri.

“Tim spent most of his 33 years at Mizzou teaching generations of veterinary students to care for mules and master the art of harnessing and driving a team,” Dodam said. “Importantly, he brought Missouri’s mule heritage to life by traveling to small towns, festivals, and fairs throughout the state. He was an incredibly special mule, and it was a true privilege to work alongside him.” Tim and Terry officially retired in 2020, trading their travels for quieter days in the pasture, occasional appearances for photos and, whenever possible, plenty of treats. Terry remains at the college alongside fellow mules Bess and Rose and current Missouri Mule Team members Boone and George. For those who had the opportunity to know, care for or work with him, the memories of Tim will remain long after his passing. He will be deeply missed.

Another Great Time Greeting the Public at the Fair I t was a great time at the fair with MVMA members making new friends with lots of questions (and stories) at the association’s booth during the Missouri State Fair, August 13-23 in Sedalia, Mo.

Over 30 members donated a day of their time reaching out to the public with information about the MVMA, answers to questions about pets, and good conversation. Our volunteers were kept quite busy throughout the event visiting with fair-goers and spreading the word about good health care for their animals and encouraging children that they can be a veterinarian, too.

Again this year, the MVMA combined its booth with the MU College of Veterinary Medicine who helped show off a few new hands-on exhibits. Thanks to the following studenst for their help in the booth: Alyssa Obermeyer, Kylee Gengler, Kaylee Spencer, Grace lloyd, Gretel Wurdack, Alexis Myler, Sudie Callahan and Faith Harvey. Volunteers greeted booth visitors, answered a myriad of questions, and handed out bookmarks, coloring pages, brochures on MVMA programs, and information on pet health and welfare. Emphasis was also made on the MVMA’s Missouri Stocker/Feeder Quality Assurance Programs and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation’s Animal Archives of Missouri and Veterinary Museum.

Non-Emergency Care Access Established Clients - 83% can be seen within ONE WEEK - 90% can be seen within TWO WEEKS - Only 10% report wait times longer than two weeks New / Irregular Clients - 58% can be seen within ONE WEEK - 81% can be seen within TWO WEEKS - 19% report wait times longer than two weeks What this means: Even for new or irregular clients, the vast majority of rural veterinarians are providing non-emergency care within two weeks.

On Wednesday evening, MVMA sponsored dinner for the incoming students, providing an opportunity to meet and visit with MVMA leadership. During roundtable discussions, students were able to ask questions, hear from practicing veterinarians and begin making connections within Missouri’s veterinary community.

The week culminated with the Welcome Convocation Ceremony on August 21, 2026, featuring guest speaker and author Dr. Bo Brock. Students received personalized stethoscopes from MU CVM, while MVMA welcomed its newest student members with MVMA-logoed badge reels and student membership cards. MVMA is proud to support these students as they begin their veterinary education and become part of Missouri’s veterinary community.

Expansion of Supervision Levels for Registered Veterinary Technicians Finalized Efforts to enhance supervision standards for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) has reached a significant milestone. The Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) RVT Utilization Task Force comprised of veterinarians and Missouri Veterinary Technician Association (MVTA) RVTs and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board (MVMB) successfully amended 20 CSR 2270-4.060 Minimum Standards for Supervision, along with the Required Levels of Supervision table. Following the formal rulemaking process, these amendments were approved and signed by Governor Mike Kehoe. These revisions were driven by the goal of improving the utilization of RVTs within veterinary practices while ensuring that the changes do not introduce the undesirable risks associated with mid-level practitioner roles. With these updates, the Missouri Veterinary Practice Act now provides expanded levels of supervision for RVTs. It remains the responsibility of the supervising veterinarian to exercise professional judgment in evaluating an RVT’s competency before delegating tasks or issuing verbal or written instructions. While RVTs play an essential role in veterinary practice, the supervising veterinarian retains ultimate responsibility and legal accountability for the technician’s actions within the clinical setting. The Required Levels of Supervision chart below includes the Governor signed amendments, with all modifications highlighted in red for clarity. These regulatory changes mark a progressive step in veterinary practice, ensuring that supervision standards align with industry advancements while maintaining the highest level of patient care and professional accountability.

Clinics Encouraged to Consider Donating Pet Oxygen Masks to Local Fire Departments

great idea and a great lifesaver: the MVMA has developed a step-by-step guide to make it easy for your clinic to donate these oxygen mask kits to your local fire departments. The Pet Oxygen Mask Project, an initiative of the MVMA Animal Welfare Committee in cooperation with the MVMA Emergency Management and Public Health Committee and the MVMA Missouri Volunteer Veterinary Corps, is working towards equipping Missouri fire trucks with pet oxygen masks. To start off the initiative, the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association presented the Boone County Fire District with 10 Pet Oxygen Masks. The presentation was held at the Boone County Fire Protection District Headquarters in Columbia, MO. Two local television stations covered the event. The pet oxygen masks are specifically designed for animals and each kit comes with three different size masks that can be used on any size dog or cat, as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, birds, and more. Equipping fire trucks with pet oxygen masks will give firefighters the proper equipment they would need when trying to revive a pet that has suffered from smoke inhalation.

Quality of Life 2025 Satisfaction by Practice Type

Practice type continues to provide an important lens for understanding veterinarians’ quality of life. The survey compares veterinarians working in Companion Animal Exclusive, Mixed Animal Practice, Equine Exclusive, and Food Animal Exclusive practice settings. The 2021 and 2023 surveys previously showed particularly strong career and job satisfaction among mixed-animal and food-animal practitioners. With participant-level data now available for 2025, we can examine whether that pattern continued.

Mixed-animal veterinarians were slightly more likely to report being satisfied with their current job than companion-animalexclusive veterinarians, despite mixed-animal practitioners being considerably more likely to work more than 40 hours per week.

Among mixed-animal practitioners, 84.3% reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their career choice. The Food Animal Exclusive percentage should not be interpreted as a broader trend. Only two respondents identified as Food Animal Exclusive in 2025, meaning that each individual response represents 50 percentage points.

Income satisfaction was also remarkably similar between Companion Animal Exclusive and Mixed Animal Practice respondents. More than eight in ten respondents in both groups reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their veterinary income. This is particularly noteworthy when considered alongside workload. Mixed-animal veterinarians reported substantially longer workweeks than their companion-animal-exclusive counterparts while reporting essentially the same level of income satisfaction.

Workload Provides Important Context One of the clearest differences between the two largest practice groups was the number of hours worked. Practice Type Working More Than 40 Hrs/Wk. Despite the additional workload, mixed-animal practitioners continued to report: • 84.3% current job satisfaction • 84.3% career satisfaction • 82.4% income satisfaction This suggests that workload alone does not explain veterinarians’ overall satisfaction with their work or profession.

Another notable difference appeared when respondents were asked whether, based on their quality of life and income, they would recommend a career in veterinary medicine to a young person. Companion Animal Exclusive 70.5% Mixed Animal Practice 78.4% Equine Exclusive 100.0% Food Animal Exclusive 50.0% Among the two largest practice groups, mixed-animal veterinarians were more likely to recommend the profession than companion-animal-exclusive veterinarians. The geographic comparison was even more pronounced: • 81.7% of rural respondents would recommend a veterinary career. • 65.6% of suburban respondents would recommend a veterinary career.

Key Takeaway

The 2025 results reinforce an important theme from the earlier Quality of Life surveys: longer hours do not necessarily translate into lower professional satisfaction. Mixed-animal and rural veterinarians reported substantially longer workweeks, yet they continued to demonstrate strong levels of current job satisfaction, income satisfaction, and willingness to recommend veterinary medicine as a career. For the Rural Animal Veterinary Task Force, this may be an especially useful finding. The challenges associated with rural and mixed-animal practice are real, but the data also suggest that veterinarians working in these settings continue to find considerable professional satisfaction in their work. Note: Results for Equine Exclusive and Food Animal Exclusive respondents are presented for completeness but should not be used to draw broad conclusions because of their small sample sizes. There are two findings in here that are especially reportworthy. First, the workload contrast is striking: 60.8% of mixed-animal veterinarians worked more than 40 hours versus 31.1% of companion-animal veterinarians, yet their current job satisfaction was essentially identical — 84.3% vs. 83.6%. Second, the rural vs. suburban comparison may deserve its own small callout box. Rural veterinarians worked longer hours 23

Mixed Animal is remarkably steady. Career satisfaction is essentially holding in the low-to-mid 80s across all three surveys, job satisfaction rebounds to roughly its 2021 level in 2025, and income satisfaction is slightly higher in 2025 than in either previous survey. Companion Animal has the biggest positive careersatisfaction movement: roughly 83%e 85%e 95.1%. The Equine and especially Food Animal results are interesting, but are marked as a small sample size rather than assuming a 50-point movement represents the broader population. The original report also showed very high job and career satisfaction among Food Animal practitioners, but these groups were already small.

FDA Authorizes Drug to Treat New World Screwworm in Dogs and Puppies Veterinary Practice News - August 14, 2026 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Simparica TRIO (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) to treat New World screwworm (NWS) infestations (myiasis) in dogs and puppies. New World screwworm (NWS) larvae cause severe, often fatal damage by burrowing into the flesh of livestock, pets, wildlife, birds, and even humans. Photo courtesy USDA APHIS According to the agency, most U.S. dogs currently face low exposure risk based on geography. However, dogs living in, traveling to, or returning from areas where NWS has been identified should be monitored for signs including visible maggots or foul odors from wounds or body openings. Immediate veterinary care is recommended for suspected infestations. NWS has currently been detected in specific areas of Texas and New Mexico. “The FDA continues to authorize products to give veterinarians and pet owners multiple treatment options, in the unlikely event animals under their care become infested with New World screwworm,” says Acting FDA commissioner Kyle Diamantas, J.D. “To date, the U.S. has been successful in containing the spread of NWS. We are hopeful it will remain that way, and by authorizing products like this, the U.S. will be ready if the need arises.” The FDA says that, based on the available scientific evidence, Simparica TRIO may be effective for treating NWS myiasis in dogs and puppies when used as authorized, and that its potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks. Veterinary Honor Roll CelebratesTwo New Inductees The Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation inducted two veterinarians into the Veterinary Honor Roll on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Jefferson City. Paul Terry, DVM, Grant City, MO., attended Northwest Missouri State University and earned his DVM from the University of Missouri in 1981. Upon graduation he started practicing in the small rural/ suburban town of Plattsburg, Mo. where he devoted over forty years to the practice of veterinary medicine. As a mixed animal practitioner, he provided compassionate, high quality care to companion animals, livestock, and the families that depended on them. During his career, he earned a reputation for clinical excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment Paul Terry, DVM to serving his community. He was a member of AVMA, MVMA, KVMA, AASP, AABP, and KCVMA. He took great pride in mentoring young people who expressed interest in veterinary medicine. Many of those students have gone on to distinguished careers in the profession, a legacy he considers to be among his most rewarding accomplishments. He married Jane Brawley, DVM in 1983 and they raised two children, Joseph and Merryl. It is with gratitude and humility that he accepts his nomination to the MVMA’s Honor Roll. For more than six decades, Larry K. Wiggins, DVM has been a trusted veterinarian, devoted agricultural advocate, and community leader in northeast Missouri. A graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, he earned his degree on June 9, 1965. The very next day with a $1,500 bank loan, he opened Scotland County Veterinary Clinic in Memphis, Missouri and made three service calls. His practice quickly grew, has remained dedicated to caring for the animal and serving multiple generations of families of Scotland County and the surrounding region. On June 10, 2026, he celebrated 61 years of continuous veterinary practice, a milestone that reflects

not only professional longevity but a lifetime of commitment to Missouri’s rural communities. Alongside his veterinary work, Dr. Wiggins is a respected cattleman who raises Charolais cattle. His leadership in livestock production earned him recognition as the 2015 Northeast Missouri Livestock Symposium Livestock Person of the Year, honoring his contributions to the livestock industry and rural development. A lifelong supporter of youth in agriculture, Dr. Wiggins has provided free health examinations for 4-H and FFA show animals for decades, helping young exhibitors learn responsible animal care and succeed in competition. His dedication to youth programs led to his induction into the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame in 2016. Dr. Wiggins’ service to his Larry Wiggins, DVM community extends far beyond veterinary medicine. He served on the local school board, contributed to the Scotland County Antique Fair Board, and remains active in the Scotland County Historical Society. His passion for preserving rural heritage is evident in his leadership roles with the Fox Valley Two-Cylinder Club and the Northeast Missouri Tractor Pullers Association. In 2010, Dr. Wiggins was honored by the American Veterinary Medical Association Honor Roll for his longstanding commitment to the profession. Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Dr. Wiggins is proud of his family. He and his former wife, Patricia, raised four children, David, Beth, Mark, and Sally. He has eight grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. His pride in them and their accomplishments and character remain one of his greatest joys. Known affectionately as “Doc Wiggins,” he has devoted his life to caring for animals, supporting youth, promoting agriculture, preserving history, and strengthening his community. His remarkable legacy of professional excellence, agricultural leadership, and heartfelt service makes him an exceptionally deserving recipient of Veterinary Honor Roll recognition.

MVMA’s Quality Assurance Program What Is the Missouri Stocker/Feeder Quality Assurance Program? The Missouri Stocker Feeder Quality Assurance Program is designed to meet the quality improvement and pre-conditioning needs of producers, feeders, and consumers. This program educates participants in immunology, animal well-being and the economics of disease. Participation in the program increases producer accountability for quality and safety of the product they sell.

How Does the Program Work? Veterinarians and producers must be MSFQAP-certified. Veterinarians must also be Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified. Veterinarians are certified online or during the MVMA convention. Producers are certified by their veterinarian. Veterinarians and producers learn how they can influence carcass quality and consumer confidence by monitoring where and when injections are administered. Once certified, the producer may participate in the program at one of three levels (white, red or blue tag). The three-level approach allows all producers the opportunity to match their level of management and facilities to the level of participation.

Level 1: Show-Me Select (White Tag) • Participating veterinarians and producers must be certified. • Calves must be properly identified with an approved ear tag. Tag numbers will be listed on an approved certificate. • External and internal parasite control is administered. • Calves will be dehorned and healed. Calves will also be castrated with a knife and healed or verified to be steers.

• Vaccinations: 7-way clostridial, IBR, BVD, PI3, BRSV, Mannheimia haemolytica with leukotoxoid, (Histophilus is optional.) • Cattle must be born on the producer’s farm. A range of birthdates or the birthdate of the oldest calf in the group must be recorded. • Bull in and out dates will be provided. • Individual calf treatments will be recorded to include date, product, dosage, route of administration and injection site. • Vaccinations must be given no younger than four months of age and at least 21 days before sale.

Level 2: Show-Me Superior (Red Tag) • Weaned 45 days before offering for sale. • Meet Level 1 requirements - NOTE: Initial vaccinations may be given at an age determined by an attending veterinarian. • In addition, a second round of vaccinations must be given using the following guidelines: • A 7-way clostridial as well as a modified live vaccine containing IBR, PI3, BVD and BRSV must be administered; • Histophilus somni is optional; • Only one dose of Manheimia heamolytica is required if that dose is administered to calves 5 months of age or older; • The time frame between initial and second vaccinations must be a minimum of 21 days and all vaccinations must be completed at least seven days prior to sale; • If a veterinarian determines initial vaccinations should be given to calves less than 4 months of age then second vaccinations must not occur until calves are 5 months of age or older.

Level 3: Show-Me Supreme (Blue Tag) • Meet Level 1 and Level 2 requirements. • All cattle must be tested and be negative for persistent BVD infection. • Genetic information is optional.
